  • 027 - Jonah - Fact or Fiction?
Patreon Page // Buy Thinking Out Loud Products
Thinking Out Loud is a place to digest audibly the things we tend to think through silently. We'll look at a variety of complex issues from a variety of points of view, not necessarily to get to "right answers" but to build empathy and perspective.
Today's episode is the first addressing the "Problem Passages" you sent in. I'll take a look at some overall themes we should keep in mind while reading scripture and then take a closer look at Jonah. How literally should we read it and how does that decision effect the point of the book? For follow up on Jonah check out the links below:

Thinking Out Loud is a place to digest audibly the things we tend to think through silently. We'll look at a variety of complex issues from a variety of points of view, not necessarily to get to "right answers" but to build empathy and perspective.
Former Penn State University and NFL running back, Larry Johnson, joins me to discuss the deep dives he's taken into conspiracy theories and the role his faith has played in them. I share my skepticism and how conspiracy theories have real life consequences and, for Christians, often distract us from pursuing Jesus.
If you're so inclined here are two articles on Christians and Conspiracy Theories and if you're into hearing about potential conspiracy theories and have a lot of time there's a podcast down there I used to listen to that takes some really deep dives...

  • 025 - Speaking Truth in a Distracted Age w/ Alan Noble
Patreon Page // Buy Thinking Out Loud Products
Alan Noble - Professor of English at Oklahoma Baptist University, Editor-in-Chief of Christ and Pop Culture, and author of Disruptive Witness: Speaking Truth in a Distracted Age - joins me to discuss basketball, his recent Medium article On Living, and his most recent book. Disruptive Witness is a must read for anyone working directly with young adults or with interest in reaching younger generations with the gospel. After reading the introduction and first chapter, I bought ten copies of the book to give away. Despite Alan's stubbornness and refusal to just tell me what the second half of the book entailed, I finished the book and loved it! Enjoy the interview, enter to win a free copy, and then buy a copy anyway!

  • 024 - On Where We Live And Why w/ Drew Dyck
Patreon Page // Buy Thinking Out Loud Products
Drew Dyck joins me to discuss a bit about his latest book, Your Futurue Self Will Thank You, the subsequent podcast, and we also discuss the factors and implications of where we live. How should we choose where we live? Should we move to the best neighborhood with the best school district we can afford? Or is there a call for us to live counter culturally when deciding where we live?

Thinking Out Loud is a place to digest audibly the things we tend to think through silently. We'll look at a variety of complex issues from a variety of points of view, not necessarily to get to "right answers" but to build empathy and perspective.
Dan Kent joins me to discuss his book, Confident Humility, and Open Theism. Open Theism was, and still is, something I know little about. But since my introduction to it, I've been quite interested. Dan helps to shed some light on what Open Theism is and some of the questions it answers more satisfactorily than its alternatives.

Today I am joined once again by Rex Harsin. You may remember him for his documentary, Beating Guns, and our conversation surrounding that in episode 12. But today we discuss another documentary, The Family, available on Netflix. While promising to uncover a secret society of Christians who have been influencing American and international politics for decades...the documentary may have fallen a little short of those promises. Rex and I were both disappointed, but also felt like their were some meaningful takeaways. Give a list, and even watch the documentary if you dare, and let us know what you think!
