Sometimes you have to go backward, in order to go forward! I think that was the though behind reaching back into the archives in order to try the world of Super Mario Bros one more time! It’s been done, a LONG time ago, but it’s 2023 and it’s time to see if Chris Pratt can bring this world back to life!!

“With help from Princess Peach, Mario gets ready to square off against the all-powerful Bowser to stop his plans from conquering the world.”

In all reality this movie was probably made for children, and not for adults, because the storyline itself isn’t really the best part of the movie. It’s all of the easter eggs, from the Super Mario Bros world, that really are the stars of the movie. You get a little bit of the normal stuff, plus Haunted Mansion, Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, and much more!! If you like an easter egg filled hunt, this is definitely the movie for you!

It’s time to go back to 1993 to take a look back at a movie that should probably stay buried at this point in time! It’s pop culture classic time, and we’re talking about the video game to movie adaptation, Super Mario Bros! Whether you love the movie, or not, and for the most part, it’s an astounding “not” this movie did a lot for the VFX medium!!

“Brooklyn plumbers Mario and Luigi get the shock of their lives when they discover a parallel world populated by the intelligent descendants of dinosaurs. It seems they weren’t destroyed by a meteor millions of years ago but hurled into another dimension and, now, they have plans to rule our world. It’s up to our unlikely heroes to battle the evil King Koopa and his Goomba guards, free the beautiful Princess Daisy and save mankind in this adventure of a lifetime.”

What happens when two every day normal plumbers, have to go to a different dimension, in order to save their own? What happens when you take a beloved video game, and take a stab at turning it into a blockbuster movie? History would tell you many negative things about this film, and they’d probably be correct, but as always, we recommend that you take a look at the movie for yourself before you decide!

Rolling on with amazing coverage for a show that both Doyle, and I absolutely love, today! We are coming at you with another awesome interview today, from one of our favorite shows on MGM+, From! If you’re not watching the show, From, you are definitely missing out on a very cool vampire/monster/lost TV show!! This has all of the making of what is, and will continue to be a great monster and mystery show!! Today we are talking with one of the breakout actors of this season, A.J. Simmons!!

“A.J. Simmons as Randall (season 2), a volatile man who is quick to anger and one of the bus passengers”

A.J.’s character Randall is someone who doesn’t trust very easily, but does seem to anger very easily. Randall was a passenger on the bus that entered at the very beginning of season 2, and is new to the “From” universe this season. With all that being said, he is definitely one of the more interesting new characters! Check out this awesome interview with A.J., and make sure that you go catch up if you haven’t already!!

This movie was recommended by Doyle, and pretty much came out of nowhere. It’s not something that I had heard of, and I think it was honestly just recommended to him by the algorithm. It’s a pretty unique zombie film, with a surprise immunity twist. We’re talking about the film, Blood Quantum!

“The dead are coming back to life and almost all of Earth’s population are decimated due to a zombie virus, except for the isolated Mi’kmaq reserve of Red Crow, whose indigenous inhabitants who are strangely immune to the zombie plague.”

In a very cool plot twist, it seems as though the population of Natives, specifically the Red Crow, are immune to the zombie virus. They are the ones who saw it coming, and are now trying to create a path forward for humanity. Much like with everything in these films, that is when things start to go sideways. The team starts to implode from the inside, and you can probably guess what happens from there. It’s a fun zombie films, with some different stories than you would expect from this type of movie, but also it hits on a few tropes pretty hard!

It all started out with the murder of a dog. Of course, it wasn’t just a murdered dog, but the dog was a symbol of something much bigger that obviously took us down the road for four different movies. All starring Keanu Reeves, we are of course talking about John Wick: Chapter 4!

“With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hit man John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin.”

The addition of Donnie Yen to this franchise was absolutely phenomenal. He was absolutely the right choice for this type of movie, and steals every scene that he’s in. If you haven’t watched any John Wick up to this point, don’t start here, or you’ll be completely lost. Make sure you catch up on the universe, in order to watch this part, which might be the last one. I say might, because this is a tricky universe, so who knows what’s going on with John, plus there are a couple of spinoffs in the works as well!!

I think that team TOTLB is a big time fan of anything involving aliens. Sometimes even if we know that it might not be the most entertaining project. BUT, today’s episode is definitely entertaining. The only problem with this show, and what I personally think might have been it’s downfall, is that it’s on the History Channel! We’re talking about, Project Blue Book!

“Project Blue Book was an American historical drama television series that premiered on History on January 8, 2019. The main role of Dr. J. Allen Hynek is played by Aidan Gillen, and the first season consisted of ten episodes. The series is based on the real-life Project Blue Book, a series of studies on unidentified flying objects conducted by the United States Air Force.”

Right before we recorded, but after we watched, we learned that this show was cancelled. This series was very good for what it was, and deserved more than what the History Channel could offer such a show. If you haven’t watched it, you definitely need to give it a try, if you’re into alieny type of shows!

After running down a list of Mel Gibson movies, this might be one that is least known about. Most people that watch this, or have watched this, generally think of it with positive thoughts, but I’m not sure many people would even remember it was made! We’re talking about the Gibson film, Payback!

“Porter (Mel Gibson) is a thief betrayed by both his wife, Lynn (Deborah Kara Unger), and his partner, Val (Gregg Henry), when he is shot in the back after a heist. Slowly, Porter recovers from his wounds and begins a search for Val, intent on recovering his share of the money they stole together. With the aid of prostitute Rosie (Maria Bello), Porter captures Val but still cannot find his cash. For this, Porter will have to challenge an imposing crime syndicate called the Outfit.”

This movie is less about revenge, and more about Gibson’s character trying to get what he thinks was rightfully his. Now, most people in this movie think that what he wants is absurd for them, for a bunch of rich people. He’s seeking his cut of a job, which is $70,000, and there are many jokes throughout the whole movie concerning how little amount of money this really is. It’s definitely not the best Mel Gibson movie, BUT it IS worth watching!

The universe that today’s episode falls within has been heavily scrutinized ever since the first one came out. While we think that a lot of it is undeserved, for some reason fans just are not really that into the Shazam universe! But, we are talking about and discussing Shazam: Fury of the Gods!

“Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.”

Now, at the time of the recording of this episode, this movie had an abysmal rotten tomatoes rating, which was in our opinion completely undeserved. This was a much better film than so many people gave it credit for. Not perfect of course, but it is exactly what I think a Shazam movie would be at this point. It’s definitely worth the watch if you haven’t gone to see it yet!
