  • How is Energy Related to Money (Stan The Energy Man)

Money is a Function of Work, Energy is Work.  The host for this show is Stan Osserman.

Energy and work are tied in many ways. Money and work are also tied closely, and banking, finance and economics tie them together. Today, we have tools that make many things possible that were never possible in human history, like aviation, Intermodal container shipping, digital communications and micro machines and genetics. But all of these require work, and often work well beyond the natural capabilities of man.  A huge proportion of the work we do today requires fossil fuels and equipment that needs fossil fuels. As fossil fuels become scarce, they become more expensive due to the "laws of economics". So how do we "Go Green" without going broke? You have to find a way to change all of your fossil fuel based energy system to "clean energy" in a logical, seamless economic manner.  Apparently this is beyond man's capability at this time. So what's the answer?

  • Restaurants Continue to Find Cash Relief (Restaurants of Hawaii)

Find Cash Relief from the ERC.  The host for this show is Sheryl Matsuoka.  The guests are Rebecca Sheppard and Peter Haukebo.

Efforts to replenish the Restaurant Revitalization Fund (RRF) are being debated in Congress right now, but restaurants and bars can still find significant cash relief in a refundable employee payroll tax credit—the Employee Retention Credit (ERC). With credits often exceeding the initial payroll tax liabilities themselves, the ERC has already awarded millions of dollars to a broad spectrum of employers, including restaurant and bar owners. And unlike the RRF, the ERC was never limited by available federal funds, so any business that qualifies and applies can still find ERC relief!

Join speakers Rebecca Sheppard and Peter Haukebo for their insightful discussion of the Employee Retention Credit (ERC)—specifically aimed at helping restaurant owners understand how they can maximize relief under the program. Rebecca and Peter break down the ERC into 3 easy-to-digest parts.

  • Human Rights for the Uyghurs (Global Connections)

Is China Telling the Truth About them.  The host for this show is Jay Fidell.  The guest is Henryk Szadziewski.

Henryk Szadziewski, UH graduate student, will help us understand the plight of the Uyghurs in China.  Most recently, the IOC has behaved deplorably in the Olympics. It has been difficult to reconcile their rhetoric of inclusion and actions as enablers of repression.

The source of the claim that all Uyghurs have been released from "vocational and training centers" is a senior Xinjiang official.  As a source of information, it's difficult for any reasonable person to take that seriously.

Long prison sentences on flimsy pretexts have been used in the past two years. The link between camps and forced labor is also very credible. One has to wonder how in good conscience an Olympics can be held in Beijing. The Uyghurs are victims of this terrible repression.
