  • Iron Flow Chemistry Tech for Batteries (Perspectives on Energy)

Utility Scale Energy Storage Systems.  The host for this show is Guillermo Sabatier.  The guest is Hugh McDermott.

Hugh McDermott is Sr VP Business Development and Sales at ESS, INC. He tells us more about ESS and its innovative developments in energy storage as well as their Iron Flow Chemistry Technology, and shares some project examples ESS has delivered on and how this could benefit a market like Hawaii or similar islands.

This tech is competitive with existing utility scale energy storage systems in relation to:
    •  Cost
    •  Size or footprint
    •  Environmental impact
    •  Scalability
    •  Dispatchability
    •  Other benefits

Since there are growing numbers of utilities also looking at energy storage as a blackstart resource, there may be an application of ESS systems for this purpose.

For BES system operators, next day planners and system engineers, dispatch of this resource is a topic of great interest. This leads to system operator and dispatcher training with simulation and how they can both benefit system reliability.

Finally, this tech may be applicable to the individual prosumer or DERs.

  • Sanctions Dilemma: who Gets Hurt and when (Politics for the People)

What Do we Need to Do to Make them Effective.  The host for this show is Stephanie Dalton.  The guests are Jay Fidell, Tim Apicella and Winston Welch.

Our panel discusses the efficacy of the sanctions to date, and the ones adopted just this week.  Can Putin get around them.  Do the Russian people understand the reasons for the sanctions and the effects of the sanctions.  Will the coalition soften as the war goes on when they themselves are being damaged by the sanctions.  Will the coalition reverse the sanctions in the event of, and as part of, a peace agreement.  Will the Russian economy be able to recover from the effects of the sanctions, and how long will that take.  Will Russia be made to pay the costs of restoring the damage and compensating the Ukrainians for the war crimes and all the deaths, torture and suffering the Russians have caused.  What will the Russian economy look like when all this is over.

  • House Investigative Committee's Report (Talking Tax)

More Persecution of the State Auditor.  The hosts for this show are Jay Fidell and Tom Yamachika.

The House Special Investigative Committee was supposed to be looking into problems at the Department of Land and Natural Resources and the Agribusiness Development Corporation because of a less-than-glowing report by the State Auditor. But guess who got slammed by the Committee just as much, if not more? The Auditor.
Over one-third of the Committee’s report was on the Auditor’s Office (which was never supposed to be part of the Committee’s focus according to the House Resolution authorizing the Committee).  It was also telling that the Committee issued its draft report before even hearing the testimony from all of the scheduled witnesses.  That sure makes it seem like the Committee had predetermined a lot of things.

  • International Law Initiatives to Save Life (Cooper UNion)

Promoting Human Rights and Preventing Harm.  The host for this show is Joshua Cooper.  The guest is Kirk Boyd.

International human rights and humanitarian law institutions exist to defend activism, denounce abuses and determine advocacy abilities to actualize articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Since its inception, the United Nations faces its largest moral challenge with the invasion of Ukraine resulting in growing cases of gross systemic human rights violations and increasing examples of war crimes enshrined in the Rome Statute. The world must stand in solidarity with Ukraine to ensure no other nation faces aggression through a higher degree of deterrence.
