  • It was More than Just an Insurrection (American Issues Take Two)

Was 2020 a Replay of Putin's Help in 2016.  The hosts for this show are Jay Fidell and Tim Apicella.

We know Putin helped Trump distract his way out of the Access Hollywood debacle in the 2016 election.  In The Road to Unfreedom, Yale historian Tim Snyder detailed the things Putin did to help Trump win the 2016 election, including inappropriate connections with Flynn, Manafort, Stone, Juliani and other Trump officials and acolytes, news and political distractions, hacking and social media misinformation.

Our panel examines the degree to which Putin and Trump used the same playbook in the 2020 election in delaying, derailing or distracting investigations and indictments in the Mueller investigation, the two impeachments, the Jan 6 insurrection, the theft of government documents and the various other civil and criminal claims made against him, and how they may be using that playbook now in the 2022 elections.

  • Some Nations Support Putin, Also, MAGA GOP (American Issues Take One)

House Reps Green, McCarthy Ditch Ukraine.  The hosts for this show are Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell.  The guests are Chuck Crumpton and Cynthia Lee Sinclair.

Yesterday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell had to publicly disagree with House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about the GOP's support for Ukraine with both financial aid and military weapons. Senator McConnell's commitment to stand with Ukraine was in sharp contrast to McCarthy's statements of 'not writing blank checks to Ukraine' and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's words of 'I'm tired of the USA spending billions to stop Russia in a border dispute versus using the money at the southern border'. Putin most likely  appreciated McCarthy and Green's words of support to undermine the EU and USA's effort to blunt the largest, brutal invasion of a European sovereign nation since Germany's invasion of Poland in September 1939. The panel looks at who in the GOP is giving Putin either a pass or behind-closed-door praise.

  • The Joy of Creating Art (Coronavirus and Our Mental Health)

Introspection Inspires Creativity.  The host for this show is Ken Burtness.  The guest is Patrice Federspiel.

Art moves people. It spurs their emotions whether they find themselves taping their feet to music, or flying in their armchair reading a book, or being carried away while gazing at a painting. Most have wished they could create beautiful music, or write brilliant words, or paint great art. But to grapple with the arts is hard. It is easier to find excuses not to try. The pandemic and its resultant time alone deprived many people of these handy excuses. Some people did discover the joy of art. Yet many more could not take advantage of this opportunity. Fear got in the way. Fear of the blank canvas, fear of empty pages, fear of the musical instrument long unused. To conquer fear, one needs freedom and inspiration.
