  • Questions Surround our Law Enforcement Officials (American Issues Take Two)

In the DOJ and the Secret Service.  The hosts for this show are Jay Fidell and Tim Apicella.  The guests are Stephanie Dalton and Chuck Crumpton.

In May, Merrick Garland wrote an 'Election Year Sensitivities' imemo advising DOJ not to open any investigation against any presidential candidate.  He said he was following a policy by William Barr.  What does this tell us about Garland, and what does it mean given the likelihood that Trump will run for president.  The revelations about the destruction of January 6th text messages and the apparent cover up by the Secret Service and its director James Murray also give us concern about whether the Secret Service was and are more loyal to Trump than the country.

  • Colombian Elections 2022 Part 3 (Latin American Directions)

Between Hope and Concern.  The host for this show is Nicolás Süssmann Herrán.  The guest is Álvaro Salgado.

On Sunday June 19, 2022, the Colombians elected for the first time in history a left-sided government led by Gustavo Petro, former Bogota mayor and demobilized rebel member, and Francia Márquez, a Black feminist and environmental social leader. Continuing a short series on the election, in this episode, Alvaro Salgado discusses with Nicolás Süssmann another perspective from the center of the political spectrum. They discuss what the election means from that standpoint, how the center sees the election and the decisions made by the president elect, and the implication that this has for the country, including hints that the new administration has given in its first weeks post-election about its future plans. Between hope and fear of different sectors, we analyze how the new government is looking for Colombia.

  • Parent-Child Love (Coronavirus and Our Mental Health)

The Joy of Fostering.  The host for this show is Ken Burtness.  The guest is Jamie McOuat.

The harder life becomes, the more a person's world narrows down, until there is only oneself left. 'Everything is falling apart. How will 'I' survive?' Paradoxically the answer often lays in opening up one's world rather than narrowing it down: reaching out to others, helping others with their problems, understanding that one is not alone but part of a whole community trying to deal with a troubled present and facing an uncertain future. When giving help, people usually aid their friends, even more often their family, and probably most often their child. When is a child most dependent on their parents' help? During their first years. When do parents feel most connected to their child, most loving toward their child? Usually during their child's first years.

  • President Biden One Term Only (American Issues Take One)

Ways to Salvage Remaining Presidency.  The hosts for this show are Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell.  The guest is Winston Welch.

President Biden's political agenda was hijacked last week by W. Virgina's Democratic Senator, Joe Manchin. He announced that he would not vote for any climate change bill measures, to include alternate energy development. Also, he refuses to discuss the taxation of a minimum 15% international corporate tax rate, contrary to his previous statements. Without Manchin's 50th Senate vote, President Biden may soon be labeled owner of a lame duck administration. Given recent polling, President Biden is at an all time low of 39% favorable rating. A NY Times poll reflects 64% of Democrats do not want Joe Biden to run for a second term. Like President Carter, high inflation and gas prices lend to these numbers. If the president's agenda has been blocked by Manchin, how does Joe Biden turn his dismal approval numbers around?
