Come for the classes, stay for the friends!. We will discuss the mission of Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, and specifically how this happens at University of Hawaii at Manoa. We will talk about different programs, activities, events, and courses offered throughout the year and of varying lengths from a one-time course or event, to a series over time. We will emphasize the need to keep our minds active and engaged as we age, and that this is also a wonderful venue to bring like-minded people together for new friendships. Finding more unity in the good food movement. Being vegan is often associated with militant, judgmental types, but really, many of us are simply happy making choices that align with our values. While we want more people to adopt a vegan lifestyle to spread the benefits of plant-based eating, we can better achieve this goal when vegans and the movement as a whole become less purist and judgemental, and more loving and supportive of all those on their respective journeys in the realm of changing their food choices. With food choice being the top way an individual can contribute positively to global issues like climate change, animal welfare, and world hunger, we need to find ways to grow the vegan movement and approach the world with love, understanding, and inclusivity.  The host for this episode is Doorae Shin.
