Stan Lee's A Trick of Light introduces a science-fiction world of hackers, superhuman abilities, secret organizations and larger mysteries; but its ambition occasionally becomes its biggest weakness.

Adam takes a look at the story of Cameron and Nia, why its technology-driven world is so compelling, and how a promising character relationship gets pushed aside as the middle of the book becomes increasingly dominated by exposition and backstory.

There is a lot to like here. The problem may simply be that the story tries to introduce too much of it at once.
