This show has allowed me to display my expertise and knowledge in all things 00's and skinny jeaned. But what was William Hann up to before he discovered The Libertines you may wonder....?

Well I was either shacking out to DJ Hype and Brockie mixtapes on a casette walkman or double dropping Dillinja tunes with Total Science bangers on my brother's Technics 1210's.

Yes, I was a proper Junglist and on todays episode I get to prove my D n' B credentials with a man that has been setting dancefloors alight since 2008, from the Depressed CEO Podcast it's Jimmy The Gent!

Jimmy was a dream of a guest and I had so much fun inviting this total stranger to my hotel room to deep dive his emotional attachment to the debut album from Drum n' Bass pioneers Chase & Status. (what a sentence)

We also discuss edibles in hotel mini bars, singing at record store staff to find a song and DJing to Gen Zers.

This weeks episode see's me joined by the frontman of a Canadian band in the thick of a European tour. It's Tom McGreevy from Ducks Ltd!

We have a lot of fun and a lot of laughs in this episode, but it's also the most anxious a guest has made me feel by a LONG way. Tom share's a truly incredible story about his band's first time playing a KEXP session....... honest to god, I'll be carrying the second stress of that experience for a long time to come!

Tom's album of choice was an absolute joy to discuss. Orange Juice's 1982 debut was the blue print for so many of my favourite bands like The Maccabees, The Cribs and Mystery Jets, so there is much to discuss....

We also talk 6 Music Dad's, Basshunter inspired Scottish bangers and of course, Lisa Vanderpump.

If you've not listened to Ducks Ltd yet, they released their second album, Harm's Way, last year and it is an exhilarating masterclass in indie jangle. It's well worth your time.

Ducks Ltd's European tour is winding down, but I was lucky enough to catch them in London this week, I can't recommend enough that you make your way to whatever city they're playing in next.

With their second album Bless You and Be Well due for release tomorrow, I’m delighted to share that for episode 36 of the podcast, I’m joined by Mike Wagstaff from Chartreuse!

Bless You and Be Well is a stunner of an album that was recorded in an incredibly remote part of Iceland by Sam Petts-Davis (best known for his work with The Smile) It see’s the band turn grief and trauma into a beautiful body of work.

Mike was kind enough to invite me into his home to discuss the upcoming Chartreuse album and share his love of Modest Mouse and their breakthrough record - The Lonesome Crowded West.

We also discuss The OC, underage drinking at Vagabonds, whammy bar techniques and paying Limmy to promote your band on twitch.

Something a little different today....

It's been a glorious summer and watching stadiums full of Oasis fans in my social media feed has been an absolute joy to behold.

On so many occassions, there's been fans (mostly men) crying their eyes out at these shows. Me included!

So on this episode I wrote a few words asking why Oasis so often have me and so many other people crying their eyes out. There's a few contributions from listeners , but it's mostly a solo episode.

I'm really proud of this change from the normal format and would love to know what you all think of it. Unless you think it's shit, in which case keep it to yourself. Haha!

Oasis? The Maccabees? Rilo Kiley? Wuf Lyf? The Rapture? It's been a year of big come backs.

But not one of them has the cultural heft of today's guest's truly massive comeback.

In the mid 00's David Chanell took a Hertfordshire town and injected heavy levels of indie to a place that was dangerously negelected in skinny jean wearers.

With his clubnight (and indeed his band!) back to business this Autumn, it only felt right to get David on the pod to hear about how his band, The Fullertons, went from playing Walkabout in Watford to playing shows in Moscow.

He picked an almighty riff machine of an album and in this episode, we talk about finding your tribe in independent music venues (shout out to Trinity!),having big hair and questionable scarf wearing.

If you're not a fan of the cigarette smoking Southern riff merchants, then at least listen for my truly absurd intro to this incredible album, where I imagine a world in which the fourth Kings of Leon album didn't exist...

For episode 34 I'm joined by a man that is in the thick of the cultural zeitgeist, it's James C from The Oasis Podcast!

They said it would never happen, they said it would never see the light of day, but the time is right - and the time is now. Finally, I'm releasing the first EVER episode of "THIS Album..." that was ever recorded.

James and I recorded over Zoom on a Friday night back in November and though I was clearly a bit nervous recording my first podcast, James' broadcasting expertise shone through and we had a LOVELY time deep diving the folk masterpiece, Another Side of Bob Dylan.

Yes, I know what you're thinking, "Mr Oasis choosing an album that isn't by Oasis....?!!" But James decided (understandably) to swerve the bus man's holiday and branch out into non Gallagher related territory.

For episode 33 of "THIS Album...' I'm joined by a man that dominated the life and times of a generation of skinny jeaned millenials. From the Holloways, it's Alfie Jackson!

Throughout 2006 and 2007, The Holloways had a strangle hold on my social life. If I wasn't going to their own headline shows, I'd be in the same clubs as them every weekend (often twice a weekend!) it truly was the best of times.

When Alfie and I spoke about him being on the podcast, I pretty much forced his hand and told him 'We're covering YOUR album."

We have loads of fun discussing those joy filled days before iphones and the impact his album had on my life and his.

If you are not a fan of mad coincidences then this episode will not be for you because bloody hell, there's a LOT of mad coincidences. When I invited Rajiv onto the show I had no idea we had so many mutual friends and shared experiences.
