Described as not a sequel, but genuinely a continuation of the first chapter, "It Chapter Two" brings us right back to Derry, Maine for one final showdown with Pennywise, the clown. We join the Losers Club 27 years after the events of the first chapter, where the children are now played by adults such as James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain and Bill Hader. The big question on everyone's minds however - is it any good?
Shia LaBeouf is being hailed as a tour-de-force in this film and his upcoming "Honey Boy." But this episode is about "The Peanut Butter Falcon," which sees Shia play Tyler alongside Dakota Johnson as Eleanor and Zack Gottsagan as Zak. All of their paths collide when Zak runs away from his care home to become a wrestler. This is the quintessential indie movie plot, but is it the quintessential indie movie? Did your hosts Mike & Gerrit like it? Did they love it? Did they want some more of it? Did they hate it? Start listening and enjoy this episode.
In what can be described as a horror/mystery/thriller/comedy, a new bride is welcomed to the family by way of initiation. A horrifying game is played at midnight. Comedians Mike Logan and Gerrit Elzinga (your wonderful hosts), partake in viewing the festivities. Did they like it? Did they love it? Did they hate it? Only one way to find out... ready or not, the reviews are coming at you!
Mike and Gerrit are joined by TBBG Superfan & aspiring Grand Rapids comic Alex Plotkowski! Rated R for a lot of shit involving "tweens," this week's movie features Jacob Tremblay (a child actor) alongside an array of of other child actors that are relatively unknown, a crazy plot and Seth Rogen's production company. Three best friends play hooky in an attempt to redeem the reputation of one while thwarting off drug-chasing teenage girls. This is a coming-of-age tale (cumming-of-age?) for the ages... or is it? Take a listen to find out!
Produced by Guillermo del Toro, starring many unknown actors, and based on the book series from the 1980s, "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark" harkens back to the 60's horror movie feel. With a mixed bag of generally favorable reviews, Mike and Gerrit don't know what to expect. But one thing they do know - they will have an opinion by the end. Take a listen to find out what they thought!
Making over $60 million in its opening weekend, the latest entry (kinda) in the Fast & Furious franchise hit theaters and comedians Mike Logan and Gerrit Elzinga have seen it. Starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson & Jason Statham, this film is follows Hobbs & Shaw as they track down a rogue MI6 agent with a deadly virus. Twists, turns, and plenty of action abound. But the question stands - is it any good? Take a listen to find out!
Quentin Tarantino has unleashed his 9th film and it's a whopping 2 hours and 41 minutes. He himself referred to this film as his magnum opus - but is it?
This week on the pod, comedians Mike Logan and Gerrit Elzinga tackle another Disney remake of their own properties. 1994's "The Lion King" is hailed as one of the greatest achievements in animation and film alike. The 2019 version is seen as a mixed bag by critics. Boasting the singing and voice-talents of Donald Glover and Beyonce however, it seems this live-action reimagining cannot fail.
Mike and Gerrit have a guest on this (fittingly) uber-creepy episode! Sara Jones of the Laughing In The Dark Podcast, sit down to discuss the sleeper-summer hit "Midsommar." Directed by Ari Aster (the director of "Hereditary") and starring Florence Pugh (from "Fighting With My Family" - which Gerrit and Mike previously reviewed on episode 46), this film tells the story of a couple that travel to rural Sweden for a festival. What. Could. Go. Wrong?
Pixar's fourth entry in the Toy Story franchise has been released to favorable reviews. Critics and audiences alike love it so that means it was time for comedians Gerrit Elzinga and Mike Logan to see it and chat about their thoughts. Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively. But this new film introduces Forky, voiced by Tony Hale. This cast is star-studded, with a story that definitely takes the franchise in a new direction but one question persists - is it any good?
