Hi everyone! I promise I haven't gone anywhere, although it's been a couple of weeks. I had a much-needed (and unexpected) break. 

Now that I'm back, episode 15 took a personal turn as I share specific milestones where doubt ran abundant and what I do to combat that doubt! It's an episode where I get a little more transparent and overshare to express my own processes dealing with doubt (because it's inevitable!). Also, does anyone else's doubt sound exactly like them? More specifically, do you feel like you're personally attacking yourself? No?

On this week's episode, the host jumps into her love of true crime. Don't worry, she doesn't get specifically into cases, but mostly just how her love for all things mystery began. She loves true crime shows, books, podcasts, etc. How did that impact her life? Well, she's that friend that makes sure no one leaves their drinks unattended, and if they do. They're getting a new drink. Ya'll can blame her dad for that. He did security at parties across the city her entire life. So that came with all kinds of stories and examples of all kinds of things. Buckle up for an episode all about This Black Girl's experience with adulthood - so far. This feels like a "learn as you go" activity. I'm also wondering how this worked pre-social media. Let's not even get into the fact that it's still a little hard to talk about mental health in the Black community. So what do I think? Well, I'm not sure. I know that I was so excited to grow up as a kid, but we don't really talk about all the things that come with being an adult until you're an adult. So for now, welcome to the advice. But I don't know though...

This week, the host talks ink. She tells the story about her first tattoo and beyond. She also talks about some (unwarranted and warranted) opinions that she's received concerning her tattoos. Yes, this black girl is aware that they last forever. Thanks for that. She also jumps into why she doesn't think a person's tattoos determine how well they are going to a job. All in all, it's about placement, but even that is subjective! In short, why not ask people about their tattoos instead? She does and the stories she hears are very interesting.

This week, the host discusses what's in a name. When it comes to names, you shouldn't be able to assign a race to a name. However, people still try to classify names as "stereotypically Black." Let's dive into the importance of correcting people when they mispronounce your name with the help of some friends of the podcast Malesha and Jyrone.

In this episode of This Black Girl, the host gets real about things the Black community is facing. Personally, she's tired, scared and frustrated. After learning not a lot about her Black history in school and then getting to college and taking her first Pan-African Studies class - it all changed. Due to the things going on in the world with Trumpist racists out with their bigotry and continuing to lose Black lives at the hands of police and white terrorists, she's trying to figure out how to take a stand and how to navigate through all of the emotions.

Literally, found a school and applied for the graduate program. Then things fell into place. She was scared, but she pushed through and went for it.

This week, the host dives into the topic of college! She shares her own journey preparing for college (as it had been expected all her life) and beyond! College is the most fun, difficult, stressful, eye-opening experience you will have. However, if that's not your path, then that's not your path! Decide your fate yourself. That's not an easy feat, but welcome to adulting. Pro tip: that 8am class is not something you can handle. Trust me, it starts off great, but is definitely a STRUGGLE (especially in the winter). Whether you go to college, grad school, or whatever; the host is here to share her experiences NOT tell you what to do. Simply because she's still figuring things out herself!

This week, This Black Girl talks about growing up and having to learn early about codeswitching, but not really being aware of it or labeling it as that until later in life. She briefly mentions stories in which she existed in white spaces as the only (or one of few) Black person. She also discusses her continuous struggle of being so used to code-switching and wondering whether or not it's her job to make the White people around her comfortable. In conclusion, she's working on it!
