DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE
What does it mean to have a black Friday deal with your boudoir business? Of course we, here in the states, know about the Friday after thanksgiving. It is the one day out of the year where department stores open their doors to exclusive deals on the goods that they sell. This happens one weekend a year thanks to Shop Local Saturday and Cyber Monday. Photographers, especially, boudoir photographers book their following year out by these sessions.
Takeaways from my Black Friday Flop:
Create a marketing plan for the following year, so I can plan my launches a month a head with the type of content I'm posting and when I'm posting it.

For goodness sakes! Warm up your audience on social and email subscribers.

If you normally have higher prices with luxury clients, you may have been "too cheap" or "too expensive" for bargain hunters.

How can posing contribute to a high sale?
Preparation and education with your client.
By drawing more information about this, I have my client put together a Pinterest board for me of all their favorite poses, set ups, and outfits.
What we're creating here is a collaboration of her vision and how I can apply that to my style. I put all that in a "document" specifically in my "client notes” in Apple's Notes. Each client gets a note. In there I'll have screen shots of their pinterest board that I can refer to the day of the shoot.
Shoot mapping - the day of the shoot I see what my client brings to wear, we thumb through the looks, I pair each look with a set up, and plan my poses.
It helps me stay organized during the shoot so that I can make time for her vision and my creativity.

August 09, 2021 03. How to Conduct Your First Boudoir Portfolio Shoot! Part 2
DISCUSSED IN THIS EPISODE
In this episode we'll talk about creating mood boards and conducting your first boudoir portfolio building photo shoot. This is a two part series of How to Conduct Your First Boudoir Portfolio Shoot. To catch up I encourage you to go back to episode 2.
First things first, you'll want to create a mood board for your session. You have two options.
Option 1: You can go to Pinterest, create a board, add inspiration for hair, makeup, posing, style. Then add your makeup artist, hair stylist, and model to it.
Option 2: Do a google search for the style of boudoir that you're trying to go for. Maybe your style is dark and moody? black and white? Light and airy? High fashion? Maybe it's a blend of both. Regardless save the images in a folder on your desktop that you can show everyone that's involved with the shoot.
Next you can have your 'models' do their own hair and makeup or you can hire someone to do it. If you don't know where to go, ask your hair stylist if they would be open to doing hair or if they know anyone that would be a good fit. Be sure you tell them what kind of shoot it is. Some hair stylists will work in exchange for images of their work. The same for makeup artists.
What to pack for your shoot.
What to do the night before.
During the shoot.
When shooting, this is important, don't ever tell your subject that it's not working or anything negative. Even if it isn't working.
After the shoot, get your photos edited. Everyone is really excited to see their photos and be sure to deliver in a timely manner.
