E3 is dead. Okay well, more dead than we previously thought. New data collected by research group Superdata has shown that this summer’s online events have managed to match and surpass the number of viewers of E3’s biggest keynotes. What was once video gaming’s home for the biggest and best announcements is now a big question mark for the industry as whole. If developers and publishers don’t need a mega event to round up attention than what will incentivize them to spend big bucks on booth space and return when things “go back to normal”?
