3 During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God. - Acts 1:3
The 40 days between Jesus’ resurrection and His ascension are some of the most significant days of his life, but often the least talked about.
In his resurrected body he could walk and talk and eat with those he appeared to, showing he was physically alive. Also, he was able to appear and disappear from sight, even behind closed doors.
During these 40 days Jesus was publicly announcing to the world he had risen from the dead. He also had other plans.
As you’ll see in the events listed below, Jesus makes a point to reconcile with his disciples and commission them to take his saving message to the world.
These are the events between Jesus’ resurrection and ascension into heaven:
- Jesus’ Resurrection (Matthew 28, Mark 16, Luke 24, John 20)
- Jesus Appears to Mary Magdalene
- Jesus Appears to the Women
- Jesus Appears to Two Believers on the Road to Emmaus
- Jesus Appears to Peter
- Jesus Appears to the Apostles Behind Locked Doors
- Jesus Appears to the Apostles, Including Thomas
- Jesus Provides a Miraculous Catch of Fish
- Jesus Reconciles with Peter
- Jesus Commissions His Disciples to Teach and Baptize All Nations
- Jesus Appears to More Than 500 People at the Same Time
- Jesus Appears to James
- Jesus Ascends into Heaven
