This week on the podcast we speak with Dr Clare Skinner. Clare is the Director of Emergency Medicine at Hornsby Kuring-Gai Hospital in Sydney, a Curriculum Advisor for the Sydney Medical School and has been recognised as one of the Top 50 Public Sector Women (NSW) list.
Clare shares her thoughts on ED workplace culture, workforce, patient safety, being kind to each other in the department and the people who influence our practice. We also discussed a few of Clare's internet essays and blogs which give a wonderfully conversational view of Clare's influences and thoughts about the care we provide.

Though the podcast is planned for fortnightly release, This Emergency Life couldn’t hang on to our recent chat with Phil Russo for too long.
Associate Professor Philip Russo is an internationally regarded expert in healthcare associated infection prevention. Phil is Director of Nursing Research, Cabrini Health and Associate Professor, Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences, Monash Nursing and Midwifery, President of the Australasian College for Infection Prevention and Control (ACIPC), the peak body for Infection Prevention and Control professionals in the Australasian region.
Importantly for us Phil is also a member of the Infection Control Expert Group (COVID-19) and the National COVID-19 Clinical Evidence Taskforce Steering Committee. We talk to Phil about COVID-19 and his thoughts on ED pandemic preparations across Australasia and some advice for the comings months and years.

July 01, 2020 Episode 1 - Julie Finucane OAM
We are very proud to announce that not only are we releasing our first episode of This Emergency Life with a very special guest, but we are launching the podcast in association with the College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA). With this wonderful news, we didn't have to spend much time at all deciding who should be the very first guest to appear on This Emergency Life. Julie Finucane OAM received the Medal of the Order of Australia for Leadership in Emergency Nursing in June 2000 for services to Nursing particularly in the area of accident and emergency care and community.
Julie is well known and well loved by the Australian Emergency Nursing community as a truly inspiring leader, College of Emergency Nursing Australasia (CENA) founding member, and of course she personifies CENA's highest award for Leadership in Emergency Nursing - Julie Finucane OAM Medal for Leadership in Emergency Nursing. We talk with Julie about her career and her thoughts on the state of emergency care in Australasia.
