Life is hard. And maybe, for some, frightening. Unbearable. Confusing. We become lost in its complexities, we fall over the debris blown onto our paths, and sometimes we never get up.
The diagnosis or death of a loved one. Our own diagnosis. A broken marriage. Toxic relationships, people, situations, and thinking. Depression. Anxiety. Suicidal ideation.
Some of us are abused, and some of us, well, we abuse ourselves. We cannot escape our pasts, events in our lives that have shaped and molded us, made us who we are, yet we still can’t quite shake the old skin from our backs. We carry it with us, and it just gets heavier and heavier.
We are “yes-women”; we often do things we don’t want to do, go places we don’t want to go, turn our lives upside-down for people who may not appreciate us, or even love us as much as we love them. Some of us are lonely; we believe by now that we’ll be alone forever; our desperation for love and affection knows no bounds. Not anymore. We have lowered our standards, and some of us have done things we’re not proud of, allowed people into our lives that we regret. Yet, we still can’t say no. We are afraid. We feel guilty. We want to break free, but we don’t know how.
So, what do we do? Where do we go from here? How do we pull ourselves out of the deep, deep hole we have dug or that someone else may have dug for us? How can we turn failure into success? How can we become the strong women we so desperately want to be?
You are going to show you how. Not me. I’m just going to give you my hand and help pull you from the darkness that is your life. I’m going to walk with you through the painful cold of winter and into the warmth of the sun. And then I’m going to leave you there and let you decide which path to take.
