  • Ep.17 - Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)

Nintendo has a number of behemoths capable of rampaging their way through many a sales chart, but none come more rampant than this week's game, Animal Crossing: New Horizons. A game all about escaping to a deserted island with only the people closest to you; who could possibly say why the 13 million people who bought it in its first six weeks on sale did so?

Ashley tries to explain here, but we fear it shall forever remain a mystery.

  • Ep.16 - Lego DC Super-Villains (Nintendo Switch)

Lego, the boredom buster of multiple generations, took a turn toward the technical in the mid 2000s and has been pushing out great games ever since. This week's game is no exception, with Lego DC Super-Villains proving popular round Chris' way. Join us as we chat about that and more!

  • Ep.15 - Planet Zoo (PC)

Early last week, late this one. That's called journalistic balance. Or something like that. And no idea why we're using it because we aren't journalists. We're podcasters! Podcasters who this week are chatting about Planet Zoo, an excellent PC game in which you are tasked with managing the everyday minutiae of a zoo and simultaneously blowing the budget by building the most extravagant gharial exhibit you can possibly imagine!

So join us and hear Ashley bewilder Chris with what, on listening back, sounds like complete game zealotry. Unsurprising, though, as the game's an absolute gem. Listen in to find out why!

  • Ep.14 - Etherborn (Nintendo Switch)

You're all stuck in your houses and we're both stuck in our houses. But worry not, we're sending help in the form of this brand spanking new episode! That's right - we're back, baby!

We're breaking with tradition during lockdown and every episode will be about a game that's keeping us sane while we're rooted to our respective spots.

This week, Chris chose to tell Ashley about Etherborn, a gorgeous, gravity-bending puzzler that he's playing on the Nintendo Switch.

  • Ep.13 - Little Nemo: The Dream Master (Nintendo Entertainment System)

Little Nemo: The Dream Master is our game for this week! Listen to us discuss this NES platformer as Ashley suffers game-induced PTSD and Chris gets perturbed by questionable messages the game sends.

This will sadly be our last for some time while we wait for the current situation to blow over. So come and join us for another hour of gaming chat and other things besides to take your mind off things!

  • Ep.12 - Mickey Mania (Sega Mega Drive)

Welcome, gentle-folk, to the wonderful world of Disney on the Sega Mega Drive in the 1990s! It's a wonderful place to be, with lots of things to do.

This week, though, we're taking a jaunt through Mickey Mania, a beautiful rendition of the Disney art-style, and in a platforming game no less! It may not have been the first Disney title to capture their signature animation magic, but it's certainly one of the best!

As well as talking about the game at length, we take a detour into several other areas. Find out what other games were developed by Traveller's Tales, hear about Chris' competition spoils compared to Ashley's competition woes and listen to us talk about idle animations in platformers for far too long. Plus, Chris whips out another of his lists to irritate Ashley!

  • Ep.11 - Alex Kidd in Miracle World (Sega Master System)

This week we're going all the way back to 1986 to have a chat about Alex Kidd in Miracle World, an excellent platformer for the Sega Master System with a main character who was usurped as the face of Sega by that damned turquoise garden pig.

Over the course of an hour, we discuss the fate of Alex following his fall from grace, the merits (or lack thereof) of different game controllers, and the mathematically correct way to show how rubbish Sonic the Hedgehog is compared to everyone else in the platform genre. So press play and enjoy!

  • Ep.10 - Leisure Suit Larry (PC)

If you already have plans for Valentine's Day 2020, cancel them now! Like a bolt from the blue delivered direct to your backsides, we've shifted our entire release schedule to bring you this Valentine's special. What better way to celebrate love than to listen to two grown men have an uncomfortable conversation about being hormone-addled teenagers, standing in their local Electronics Boutique, straining to subdue the lascivious urges driving them to reach for Leisure Suit Larry?

If that's not enough to tantalise you, get ready to hear as those same two grown men walk into every single sexual innuendo as if they'd been laid out like traps by Wile E Coyote himself. Or if your penchant isn't for punnery, perhaps we could entice you with talk of dating simulators, sexy dads, and bad boy games developers. All that packed into one little hour, just for you lot!

  • Ep.9 - Lemmings (Acorn Archimedes)

Happy February, everyone! To celebrate the leap year and the subsequent extra day we're gifted this month, we figured we'd give you exactly the same number of episodes as every other normal month, and this is the first of them. Don't complain, you've already got an extra day!

This week we take a look at Lemmings, a game scientifically proven to have cropped up in the life of every child born between 1984 and 1999 because it was made for every machine through the nineties you can think of.

Did you have a Megadrive? You got Lemmings.
    SNES? You got Lemmings.
    Walkman? Lemmings on tape.
Phillips CD-i? Yes, even you got Lemmings!
Chris opted to play the game on an Acorn Archimedes personal computer, itself pilfered from work by by his Pop.

But, as always, that's not all! Over the course of the show we touch upon novelty dancing, copyright trolling, and the problem with passwords. We suspect that will have you salivating for the show, so grab your favourite podcast app and get listening!

  • Ep.8 - The Simpsons Arcade (Arcade)

This Game Where! Did you just read that in the style of The Simpsons title song? If not, go back and start this again because you did it wrong. Join us this week for our first trip down the arcade for the cabinet classic The Simpsons Arcade, a beat 'em up that was so well drawn it was like playing an episode of the television series.

About This Game Where

From the publisher's feed

This podcast where Ashley and Chris, two game boys, chat about titles from their personal gaming history. Each episode, one of the hosts presents a game from their childhood, including a brief history of its development and any personal anecdotes. After playing the game off-mic, the second half of the podcast is a discussion of how it holds up and whether the nostalgia factor still stands.
