John
6:63 "It is the spirit that
quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing..."
"Quickeneth"
means makes
alive.
The Spirit is the source of spiritual life and vitality.
We’re
not among the “Pentecostal” denominations, since we are not a
denomination. The true church of Christ is not divided into
denominations. However, as I preached in that 1 sermon a long time
ago, we should be somewhat like the Pentecostals in the way that they
worship freely & emotionally, compared to most Baptists/Catholics
that are totally emotionless, robotic, without spirit/passion.
However, the Pentecostals are extremely legalistic and
hypocritical. The freedom that they preach/worship should also be
**practiced in other areas of life too, which they detest.**
(Colossians
**2)**
### John
7:37–39 "He that believeth
on me... out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water."
The
Spirit is not stagnation but flowing life.
When
you ride the ocean waves, you feel free, alive, fun, active, not
dead, this is what you want much more often via living waters, The
Holy Ghost, daily.
**Like a man shirtless. Or a person barefoot.**
### 2
Corinthians 3:6 "...for the
letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." (Legalism/Torah
focus.)
A
contrast between dead religion and living relationship through the
Spirit.
### 2
Corinthians 3:17 "Now the Lord
is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is
liberty."
A
tremendous verse for someone trapped by fear, self-consciousness, or
spiritual bondage.
Bondage
includes forcing shirts on men, and no alcohol, no pork, legalism and
**fear.**
### Romans
8:15 "For ye have not received
the spirit of bondage again to **fear;**
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption..."
The
Holy Ghost does not produce crippling fear but sonship and confidence
before God.
### Romans
8:11 "But if the Spirit of him
that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you... he shall also
quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you."
The
same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is active in believers.
### Romans
14:17 "For the kingdom of God
is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the
Holy Ghost."
(Exceptions:
Halal marked, illegal drugs, harmful substances.)
Joy
is presented as a characteristic work of the Holy Ghost.
### Acts
13:52 "And the disciples were
filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost."
Notice
the connection between being filled with the Holy Ghost and being
filled with joy.
### 1
Thessalonians 1:6 "...having
received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost."
Not
circumstantial happiness, but supernatural joy.
### 2
Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not
given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a
sound mind."
A
key text if inhibition is rooted in fear of what others will think of
**us.**
### Acts
4:31 "...they were all filled
with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."
The
Holy Ghost transformed fearful disciples into courageous witnesses.
### Ephesians
5:18–19 "Be filled with the
Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord."
Being
filled with the Spirit results in expression, praise, and heartfelt
worship.
### Ephesians
1:17–18 "The eyes of your
understanding being enlightened."
>
Before
the Holy Ghost, we saw life one way. We saw sin one way. We saw
ourselves one way. We saw God one way. But when the Spirit came, our
eyes were opened. We began to see differently, think differently,
> feel differently, and live differently.
>
>
The
Holy Ghost does not merely change what a person does; He changes what
> **is alive inside them.**
>
1
**Thes. 5:19** Quench not the spirit.
No need to be shy, timid,
held back.
Alcohol helps to let go of the timid, shy, held
back bondage.
Music should also.
Friends should also.
Acts
2:13–18 On the Day of Pentecost:
"Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine."
###
John
**2:1-11** Jesus turned water into wine, so that people could
rejoice.
The
Holy Ghost is a wine.
Psalm
**23 in AOB.**
