What's up fam!!! We've all heard the phrase "Ball is Life." This week I sat down with Coach Travis Harmon & Student-Athlete Kimari to talk about how ball & life connect in the lives of athletes. Ya girl knows very little about the sports but I feel like I held my own. Join us as we discuss how they navigate life on and off the field & ultimately what the game of football has given them.
We touched on the senseless murder of Ahmaud Arbery and I found out about the murder of George Floyd as I was editing. To all my black male listeners I want to say I love you, you are important & you don't deserve what is happening.

We have reached the end of our 3 Part Series. I want to thank Jessica again for vulnerability throughout the series. When initially discussed it I don't think either of us thought we would end up with a 3-part series but I'm happy with what we created. In Part 3 Jessica learns the names of her illnesses, that trauma can also be a catapult and what the journey to yourself can look like. Most importantly we learn that two things can be true, "you can be successful AND healing." Make sure you Respect Your AND!!!

In Part 1 of Respect your "AND" Jessica takes us back to the beginning of her mental health journey. Episode 3!!!! We all have dreams and our immediate response is to share them with the squad. If your squad really has your back they're always down to help and share advice. Innocent right? Of course! However, its easy to get swept up in excitement and innocent advice causing you to lose sight of your actual goal. On this episode I share my struggles with making my vision a priority and a few tools i'm implementing going forward. So grab the squad....virtually of course and let's discuss.

Episode 2 baby!!! " I constantly wonder what happens to a black girl who is to anxious to ever feel like magic" -Jae Nichelle
Being a black woman comes with its own set of pressure from birth. You deal with the struggles of being black in a world that constantly makes you feel. Then you have the struggles that come with being black and woman, the pressure to be resilient regardless of circumstance, to forgive transgressors with grace & the pressure to be good at everything simultaneously while being perfectly groomed. My mama did it, my grandma did it, i'm sure my great grandma and my friends do it but i'm not sure I can uphold the standard. So am i just black girl average?
there will be a part 2 because this one got personal for me
