The first full trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie was released on StarWars.com (and Disney and Lucasfilm social media websites) on February 17th, 2026. There’s footage no one has seen before, not even those who attended Star Wars Celebration in Japan last year! That’s great news, because the marketing team heard plenty of boos from the crowds watching the NFL’s “big game” because the beer-like commercial homage didn’t have much and it didn’t even point to a more complete look online.

Some of the revelations from the video are interesting, like a possible new mentor for Grogu, a “deck of cards” like bounty hunting quest, and a sweet new pram for “Baby Yoda” toward the end. Also, was that Marty voicing that Ardennian food trucker? Sources say it was indeed Scorsese!

We have a closer look at the Hutts and even hear one speak. The resurging ex-Imperials set a meeting in a snowy place, Din Djarin does indeed seem to face off against ‘ol “Stinky”, and we once again see the Anzellans, some Dejarik holo chess pieces come to life, and a new serpent or dragon species to stoke our fears of wading in dark water. Yo! Embo! Is that you? I have the feeling he won’t last long in the movie. Movie! Yes! Movie, not show! It’s coming soon! A little over three months to go!

The movie releases May 22nd, 2026 and though there are sure to be more trailers as it gets closer, this will probably be our last time reviewing it before we see it. Once again we are celebrating the beginnings of podcasting for a galaxy far, far away. It's #StarWarsPodcastDay2026 and this year, This is the Way Podcast is talking about the leadership change at Lucasfilm.February 7th, 2026 marks the sixth anniversary for #SWPD, but it was 27 years ago when Jedi Talk began "audio blogging" with an internet radio show called Jedi Talk. Daniel C of Star Wars, Now This is Podcasting has been researching the beginnings of Star Wars podcasting and even though the first RSS fed shows didn't come out until later and the term "podcast" wasn't en vogue years after that, our research agrees that Jedi Talk seems to be the first to mass distribute their Star Wars centered show, thanks to internet hosting. As for This is the Way Podcast, we're at six years and counting and 213 episodes as of this special edition.This is still a mostly audio only version of a podcast, but as time has allowed, graphics and perhaps someday video will be added. This is the Way Podcast hopes your 2026 started off just the way you wanted. It's going to be an interesting year for Star Wars, but the calendar isn't full, by any measure.

There is a new show debuting in April, a movie release a month later, and May the Fourth usually has some surprises. No "Star Wars Celebration" this year, even with The Mandalorian and Grogu coming, but Starfighter got a surprise "Cruise" member before wrapping up principal photography.

Star Wars gamers will have to wait for new games, but there's an "old" one coming to the XBOX game pass. Hasbro listed three figures and a helmet this month and it might be smart to look up LEGO's newest offerings in the Star Wars category. Just make sure you go over the details brick by SMART brick before you make a purchase.

There's Ahsoka news and maybe more awards for Andor and Disney parks is putting some original touches on Galaxy's Edge that could put a spark of rebellion back in Batuu.

How was your 2025 holiday season? Did you have a merry Christmas? Do you expect a happy new year? What toys and goodies did you get...yourself?

Star Wars news is usually light in the winter, but we are getting closer to a new Star Wars movie. One is getting closer and closer to finishing post production in anticipation of a May 2026 release. One just finished filming and is undergoing the arduous process of melding the computer graphics Star Wars is now so reliant on with live action performances.

There are some additions to the Hasbro Pulse website this month and Star Wars gamers have a couple notes thanks to the official Star Wars.com website. Ahsoka's second season is less than a year away and we've got another segment of "This is the Word" for you to close out the year.

Black Friday has come and gone and although there are still deals to be had, you likely won't find good ones when it comes to Star Wars merchandise. Even sites that sell branded shirts put their merch on sale BEFORE Thanksgiving and most (I won't say all) ended those sales at midnight Eastern or Pacific in the states when Friday came to a close.

Still, we DO have your Star Wars news from the month of November, including notes on Jeremy Allen White, Shawn Levy, Rosario Dawson, Rory McCann, and that's just regarding live action projects at Lucasfilm. There are a couple of gaming updates that will come in December pre-Christmas, and collectors have their share of Hasbro and LEGO news.

Star Wars news has been scarce for some time now, but in September, the next movie in the queue debuted a trailer. The Mandalorian and Grogu is still months away, but it's clear that Disney is banking on the little green guy. This is the Way Podcast reviewed the trailer in an episode released the next day. for most of the month.Andor won five Emmy Awards, we learned who will be behind the camera and in the director chairs for the second season of Ahsoka, there's rumors about Starfighter, a hail mary catch for HasLabs, and seasonal offerings of collectibles to discuss. A new video game will be available soon for the virtual reality crowd and Disney Parks goers have to find the new place to hug Chewie and feel the dark side in the presence of Lord Vader. The news update podcast also debuts a new segment that some people will welcome and some may not want to endure. The first "teaser" trailer for The Mandalorian and Grogu movie was released on StarWars.com on September 22nd, 2025. Some of the footage had been previously seen at Star Wars Celebration - Japan earlier in the year.

Lucasfilm and Disney lean heavily on the popularity of "baby Yoda" in the 1 minute 35 second trailer and we see our first footage of Sigourney Weaver as a New Republic general. A new Razor Crest appears, there are post-Empire Stormtroopers, alien races seen on screen for the first time since Return of the Jedi, a Hutt, AT-ATs, explosions, aerial combat, and Grogu seems to have gathered some Anzellans as pals.

The movie releases in May 2026 and more trailers will follow in the future, but this will be the next live action project release for Star Wars, after the end of Andor's second season earlier this year.

It's August, and Star Wars news has been scarce for most of the month. Leave it to the last few days for a few notable updates to casts and crews to pop up.

Voting for the Primetime Emmy Awards has finished, but Andor made a push on YouTube with clips and character reels up to the last moment. LEGO revealed a trailer for new episodes of the Rebuild the Galaxy series coming next month, but there's also the possibility you'll be able to put real blocks together to remake the Death Star. ILM pats itself on the back with an article about VR gaming. Oga's Cantina goes standby in California and Smuggler's Run will be getting new routes.
