After spending a year traveling and volunteering around the world with her husband, they saw the need to improve the volunteer travel industry. When she returned home to Chicago, she started Unearth the World to create a better system to help people engage in communities when traveling and volunteering abroad. In addition to being CEO of Unearth the World, Kathryn is also a wife, and mother to twin girls. She is like all of us and striving to find a way to balance it all.

My guest today is a longtime friend of mine named Lauren.  In an effort to not create additional drama with her family, I am not sharing her last name.  Lauren and I have known each other for several years. After starting her own family, Lauren began to notice her mother's narcissistic behavior and tendency to create unnecessary drama in the family.  Lauren made the very difficult decision to no longer have a relationship with her mother.  By not having a relationship with her mother, she is not able to have a relationship with her father or sister either.  In this interview, we discuss Lauren's difficult decision and what her life is like now.  Thanks for listening!
