This Lesbian Ship is Intense

Due to FOMO we did a q+a this week! We talk First Kill theories, podcast origins, our fav classic lesbian movies, and get into what’s next for us…

Juliette and Calliope are on edge after the discovery of Clayton Cook's body. With the guild and MAAAM's closing in on them Juliette and Cal decide their only option is to run away… to Oliver’s. Apollo tries to seduce Elinor but learns when you play stupid games you win stupid prizes.

After the Burns fail to sever the gay away our fated prophecy theory only grows stronger. Juliette has vamp night out with Elinor, Cal undergoes a severing and the MAAMs grow stronger in their fight against indecency. Most importantly, Calliette takes the phrase dream big to heart.

We were fortunate enough to have showrunner and legend Felicia D. Henderson join us! We had a real and genuine conversation about racism in Hollywood, what creating a diverse workplace really means, and of course her vision for Calliette and First Kill. This chat happened before the cancellation of the show, but we feel like this conversation was too good to not share with you!

Imani Lewis is quick-witted, insightful, hilarious, authentic and absolutely lovely. We left this interview completely charmed by her charisma, and we think you’ll be swept away too.

O Juliette, Juliette, wherefore art thou Juliette?

Deny thy mother and refuse thy name.

Or if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love

And I’ll no longer be a Monster Hunter.

‘Tis but thy name that is my enemy:

Thou art thyself, though not a Vampire.

What’s Vampire? It is not fang nor blood

…nor any other part

Belonging to the undead. O be some other name.

What’s in a name? That which we call a peach

By any other name would smell as sweet

Sarah Catherine Hook is warm, genuine, funny, thoughtful and the absolute sweetest. We love her even more after this interview and we think you will too. Listen to her tell us everything we want to know about First Kill, Juliette, and Calliette.

Cal and Jules navigate the complexity of killing a man and outing yourself as a vampire to your best friend, all on their first date… among other firsts. Meanwhile, their families are dealing with the aftermath of their most recent clash.

As Calliope and Juliette try to reckon with their deeper connection after the bite, we’re left wondering if Lilith plays a bigger part to play than we realize. The Fairmonts and the Burns are set on a collision course, and, for better or worse, Cal and Juliette are forced to choose between their hearts and their duty.

Episode Discussion starts at 24:52

In typical lesbian fashion Cal and Juliette are left to face the consequences of moving too fast after their fated pantry hookup. Juliette's thirst for blood is only getting stronger and Calliope can’t hide her feelings for someone she’s sworn to hate. Smashley’s dead, Talia and Margot are feeling each other out, and we get to the bottom of the missing liver.
