LITHA RITUAL

Ritual to Welcome Summer

Gather your belongings and head outside to bask in the sunshine. 

Blanket 

Sunscreen

Cauldron 

Loose incense - rose, lavender, chamomile 

Charcoal disc 

Anointing oil  or lemon essential oil 

Matches

Yellow candle & holder (you can use a cup filled with small stones or sand) 

Toothpick to carve into candle. Welcome 

Pen 

Journal -to write your summer bucket list. 

First, apply your sunscreen, safety first!  Set up a comfortable spot in sun, either on the grass or at a table.  Light the charcoal disc, place in the cauldron or other fire & heat safe bowl, and place loose incense on top of the disc.  

Using the toothpick, carve your word or symbol of the summer on the yellow candle.  It does not matter what you pick - As long as the word or symbol means something to you.  When you have finished, charge your candle.  This is when you want to get your energy into the candle.  Hold your candle between the palms of your hands, bring it close to your heart and think about your summer intention.

Next, use the oil to anoint the candle.  Rub some oil on your fingers.  Since we want to bring our summer intention into us, start at the bottom of the candle, using your oiled fingers, work the oil onto the candle from the bottom up to the middle of the candle.  When finished, start at the top of the candle and anoint to the middle again.  By bringing the oil into the middle of the candle, we are bringing the magick to us.    

Place your candle in a sturdy holder and light.  Again, safety first, so always make sure your candle is steady.

While the candle burns, and you feel the sunlight on your skin, take this time to think of the experiences you would like to enjoy over this Litha season.  Make sure to write your items down in your journal so you do not forget!  (Think of it as a summer bucket list and refer to it over the season.)
