In addition to being an Author Academy Award-nominee and author of four books, Faiz Yusuf, is a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland, being awarded the title, ‘FRAS.’ for contribution to Asian literature.
He had the chance to work at a range of leading organizations, including the publishing giants, HarperCollins Publishers and Penguin Random House, Times of India, the Silicon-Valley startup, Milkie Way, the United Nations Global Compact, and corporate titan Mukund Rajan’s ESG Fund in their respective marketing and public relations departments.
In this episode we talk about Faiz's writing career and how that came about... we also dive into how anyone with a great idea can get into mainstream publishing but following smart tactics that most people don't know about... some key discussion points include:
What to do after writing a book as a novice?
How to get a book published?
Should you ever pay for publishing? (self-publishing and vanity publishing vs traditional
publishing; fraud)
How do you submit your book to publish?
What is an ideal contract/royalty collection?
What is the waiting time period?/ How long does it take after writing a book to publish?
How to write a book that is recognized and picked by a publisher?
How do you market a book?
This wizkid just might be able to answer your publishing-related challenges with his unique experience as an author and an insider...
And oh, wait... did I tell you he's just 22 years old? Holy cow! He is... and that's what makes the whole conversation so interesting. I hope you are able to derive as much value as I did with this conversation...
Enjoy!
