It’s time for another round of Studio Sessions with the School of Rock Chapel Hill, featuring three classic songs performed by the House Band!

This month, Aaron welcomes five members of the House Band: David Bangert, Kacy Buckel, Ripley Florek, Mira Krishnan, and Katie Wilson. The band celebrates Valentine’s Day by playing a love song dedication from a 97.9 The Hill listener – and the musicians talk about their favorite B-level holidays. School of Rock owner/GM David Joseph is also on hand (fresh from a trip to New Orleans to see his beloved Eagles win the Super Bowl) to discuss upcoming shows, including this Sunday’s Cupid Jam to raise money for TABLE. And we introduce the school’s new music director, Georgia Hertz – who’s new to the position, but a familiar face at School of Rock.

This month, The ArtsCenter in Carrboro is staging Max Posner’s dark comedy “The Treasurer,” about the tough relationship between a middle-aged man and his free-wheeling aging mother. The show runs for two weeks, from February 20 through March 2, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, and 2 p.m. Sundays.

Every other Monday, Aaron is joined at 8:30 a.m. by Tom Jensen, the director of Public Policy Polling, for a longstanding regular segment called “What We’re Thinking,” looking at recent survey numbers and discussing what they tell us about American public opinion – election-related and otherwise.

This week, Tom discusses poll numbers that suggest about 7 million Trump voters are already having second thoughts, two weeks into his presidency. What can Democrats and left-leaning advocates do to win them fully back? Tom suggests taking a page from Aaron Burr’s playbook: “talk less, smile more,” and be respectful, not condescending or aggressive. And remember: most people you talk to are not going to change their minds – but it’s the one or two who do that makes all the difference in the end.
