Hey all…just in case you hadn’t noticed the advertising, this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day. (If that sentence causes a feeling of panic, you may wish to join the line of similarly panicked (men) at the nearest flower shop). In any case, it’s an important day for all sorts of reasons. Some of us will mark the day with a sense of gratitude and love; others with profoundly challenging emotions running the gamut from rage to despair. It’s complicated…and, like Christmas, freighted by our culture with a rather staggering load of expectations. This Sunday, The Talky Bit will be led by a mom that many of us know and appreciate – Kathy Francis. For her, being a mom is gift that keeps on giving, and part of what it gives is transferable wisdom. She’ll share some of that on Sunday. Her blurb is as follows:
I love being a mom. My children are like love magnets. I don’t even have to try – love just flows through me to them from a never ending supply. It’s quite an amazing thing. My thinking is God must have made mothers this way so I can’t take the credit, but I sure enjoy the benefits. What flows through us leaves residue and the residue love leaves is a rather warm and pleasant feeling. Love begets love.
This is not what I’m going to talk about this Sunday, but I will speak on the topic of mothering. As a mother I often consider the question of what fosters life and growth. I’m eager to share what has impacted me in my recent pondering.
Kathy
As for the details – we will be meeting at Sam’s Place. Kid’s Table continues apace for the balance of the month, so bring the littles. We’re likely to hear the happy ruckus through the ceiling – it always makes me smile.
Peace to you all – see you on Sunday.
