In this message, This Present Suffering, we walk through the difficult but deeply hopeful truth found in Scripture that suffering, especially when it feels unfair, is not outside the purpose of God.
Drawing from 1 Peter 2:18–25, we look at how Jesus responded to injustice, not with retaliation, but with silence, truth, and unwavering trust in the Father. Christ did not threaten. He did not revile in return. He entrusted Himself to the One who judges justly, leaving us an example to follow in our own moments of hardship.
We also anchor ourselves in the promise of Romans 8:18 that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing to the glory that will be revealed. Jesus reminds us in John 15:18–20 and Matthew 10:22 that rejection and persecution are not signs of failure, but evidence that we belong to Him.
This message invites you to personally reflect:
• Where in my life am I experiencing suffering or unfair treatment right now, and how am I responding internally?
• Which part of Jesus’ response to suffering is hardest for me to imitate: His silence, His truthfulness, or His trust in the Father? Why?
If you are walking through a season of difficulty, discouragement, or injustice, this message will help you see your suffering through the lens of Christ’s example and God’s eternal promise.
