"Just be more resilient."
We've probably all heard some version of it.
But what does that actually mean?
In Episode 5 of This Too Is Healing, I'm joined by Educational Psychologist Dr Adam McCartney and Menopause Coach Emma Archard to explore what resilience really is and, more importantly, how we build it.
We talk about why resilience isn't simply about being tough or pushing through difficult experiences.
Adam explains the connection between resilience, security and identity, and why relationships, acceptance, experience and support can all affect our ability to cope when life gets difficult.
We also explore resilience in young people, education and the workplace, and why supporting someone through a difficult experience may actually help them become more resilient than simply telling them to "get on with it".
A really interesting conversation that certainly made me rethink what being resilient actually means.
