Maundy Thursday, from the Latin “mandatum” meaning “command,” is the beginning of the Holy Triduum (Holy Three Days). On this day Jesus celebrates the Passover with the disciples, claims his role as the new Passover Lamb, and embraces his purpose of sacrifice.
