Rick Hale is a friend, and author of the book Stop Settling.  In 1996, Rick Hale left behind his dream of making it big in the music business and launching a real estate career. He has never looked back. As a top-producing agent and then launching and operating Keller Williams Realty offices, he continued to expand his reach and deepen his impact, including leading eight offices as the operating partner.

His team of realtors was recently honored as one of the top-performing teams in the country. And in a single year, his group of agencies sold approximately 12,000 homes exceeding $3.4 billion in value, all while still performing and recording rock music with friends.

He identifies sources of inspiration to live a life that really matters, and he provides tools to help people narrow their sights to focus on the priorities that make their lives extraordinary. His purpose for writing the book is to inspire others, just as others have inspired him along life’s journey.

He shares that you have to embrace a life filled with ups and downs, setbacks and crises, and even rejection and failure, and you must stay positive and move forward even when life and people let you down. In this episode, I had such a fantastic conversation with a simply brilliant guy named Alan Ringvald. Born in Israel to two Immigrant parents (his Father is from Uraguay), his family settled in the US when he was young, growing up in Boston, MA. 

Alan has started (and sold) several businesses in different industries. He's worked at Google (for five years). Over his career, he worked for Google in San Francisco and a candy company in Boston. He attended MIT for grad school and has even worked in professional sports. He started Relativity6 in 2016.

In August 2020, he had a significant health shift that came out of the blue. The experience changed him. He was misdiagnosed, and his symptoms kept getting worse over two years. He became utterly disabled just amid the pandemic.

After struggling for two years, living in a wheelchair, he finally got a correct diagnosis6 that gave him hope. He had surgery, which fixed the issue, but there was still much work to do to regain his strength, care for himself, and walk again. 

Over the years of dealing with his illness, he realized how important it is to become an advocate for yourself and those out there in the world living with disabilities and chronic pain.

Alan's story amazed and inspired me, so I wanted to share it with you! I hope that you enjoy this one as much as I did!

I am so excited to finally sit down with my good friends, Ted & Arleen Taveras! I have known these two for over ten years, and although we have worked closely through the years, I have never sat down behind the mic with them! Having spent the good part of eleven years working within the insurance industry, I’ve been able to work with some really wonderful people. It is always so awesome when you can connect with the people you work alongside in this industry and really get to know them personally and hear their stories.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing David Carothers for a couple of years now and he always surprises me and entertains me whenever we talk. As you will find out by listening to our candid discussion, David is fierce in his drive for making himself better every day. His commitment to his family and business and his pursuit to be his authentic self shows in everything he does. He also works hard to keep balance in his life by taking time to focus on his wife and marriage no matter what. David seems to have boundless energy and gives his all each and every day.

Looking from the outside you would think that David is afraid of nothing and lets nothing worry him. However, you will learn that he, like most of us, has on occasion let his own fears creep in and get the better of him. He shares with us what steps he takes now to avoid that and how you need to just stop overthinking everything you want to do and just go out and do it! NOW.

Episode Two: A candid and inspiring talk with Reed Power

The tough moments do not define our life but our spirit to live with zeal does. Life is indeed a rollercoaster ride and not all of us see the good and the bad in quite the way others do. We all experience different hardships in the form of unexpected situations, accidents, sudden disease, loss of loved ones, and more. The important thing is how we carry the things we are going through or have been through within us and how we use it or let it change us.

My next guest Reed Power, is probably one of the sweetest, most humble yet strong-spirited people I have had the pleasure to meet. He is also a real-life inspiration for me. Reed is from Loganville, Georgia, and is a young man that played high school and college basketball growing up. At 6’5, he was born to play basketball! When Reed was just twenty years old he had his life mapped out with plans to play college athletics and to possibly become a coach one day, until one moment changed everything for him in a matter of seconds. He will share the details of that day of course, but what you will be surprised to hear is this young man’s response to it. Resilience in the face of uncertainty and disappointment shows so much about one’s character. It is my great honor to share with you, Reed’s story of grit and grace in even the most unfortunate of circumstances.

I believe that no matter our situation, there is always somebody out there having a bit of a harder time that is doing all they can to keep going. Some, like Reed resolve to lift the spirits of everyone around him, even when he may be going through the toughest of times. He may be soft-spoken, but his message is loud and clear. After listening to this episode, I hope you will come away with a smile and a warm place in your heart for this remarkable young man and his wonderful outlook on life. I, for one, am a better person just by knowing him.

My interview with Susan Ruediger of the CMT Research Foundation In this episode, I speak with Susan Ruediger about the CMT Research Foundation and the work they are doing. Susan and her team at CMTRF work tirelessly for people living with CMT, like me! Susan shares how her organization has just ONE focus and that is- funding clinical research to help find treatments and ultimately a way to stop the progression of Charcot Marie Tooth Disease in patients. Their goal is to one day see a day when CMT is a preventable and curable disease. Susan and I have known one another for almost ten years and I am blessed to call her a friend. I first met her when she started becoming actively involved in the support community. She has come a long way since those days! Susan is brilliant and helps to easily share how the specific projects are chosen, how and why pharmaceutical companies choose to take on the projects, and what leads up to clinical trials. Once there are trials scheduled, she explains how patients are chosen to participate, what the expectations are for those who choose to be a part of them, and why these brave people do it.
