Deborah Williams “Rankins” Robinson hosted a book signing for her newest children’s book “Fables of Frogg Eye Academy” at the Thomasville Public Library on Aug. 4. Thomasville’s Ashley Ballard recently completed an undergraduate summer program conducting cancer and biomedical research at the Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama. Ballard was accepted into the intensive eight-week program, which provides aspiring scientists with hands-on laboratory experience under the guidance of a faculty mentor. Ballard was mentored by Dr. Chandrani Sarkar, Ph.D., and examined mechanisms that may contribute to colon cancer progression. Ballard is the daughter of Jennifer and Neil Ballard of Thomasville. She was the valedictorian of her senior class at Clarke Prep and was the 2024 Clarke County Distinguished Young Woman.
