Employees retiring from the Thomasville City Schools District were honored last week for their many years of service. Wendy Thompson, Tracy Amos and Kathy Council were recognized at the May 20 school board meeting. Carol Ann Day was recognized at a May 22 reception at the high school.

Auditions for the community theater production of the musical, "Matilda," will be held at 3 p.m. on May 28 and 6 p.m. on May 29 in the Thomasville Civic Center. If you are interested in a lead role, you must prepare 16 bars of a song. There will be a mandatory volleyball parent meeting at 6 p.m. on June 2 in the THS Library. Former Lt. Governor and State Leader George McMillan passed away Easter weekend in Birmingham. George was 81. McMillan had a meteoric career in Alabama politics.
