Hey everyone and welcome to the ThoseMovieDudes show! My name is Spencer and I’m joined by my pals Nate & Jon every other week. Basically, we’re 3 movie enthusiasts that love talking about films so what we do is select two movies that would make for a solid double feature. Whether it’s similar themes, tones, filmmakers, or awards, as long as we can connect the dots in some way. We take these two films, watch them, and get together on zoom to discuss what we liked, didn’t like, and everything in between. 

This week Nate selected two unique Oscar winners from the 1990s. The Piano & Girl, Interrupted. The Piano is discussed in the first half and Girl Interrupted in the second. Enjoy!

Get your popcorn ready because, Jonathan and Spencer finally make their return to the studio after a few month hiatus. This week we had quite the combo of coming to age movies!

We watched the Sundance hit and Apple TV+ Original film CODA (Child Of Deaf Adult). We also checked out the much anticipated finale of Elle Evans and company as they struggle through the last summer before college in The Kissing Booth 3.

This week was a little unorthodox as Nate makes a surprising appearance for a double feature on Mainstream Boyz! For the first time ever on the show we got to see multiple films in theaters and talk about not only the movie, but the wonderful experience of watching movies with the unwashed masses of society. This week we watched Chris Rock attempt to revive the Saw franchise with Spiral. After that Nate and Jonathan lower the volume and break down the much anticipated sequel of A Quiet Place, A Quiet Place Part 2.

This week Nate dove into the pool of physical media and pulled out the criterion edition of Midnight Cowboy (1969) from director John Schlesinger. A no name actor at the time, Jon Voight stars alongside Dustin Hoffman who was fresh off  the stardom he had just received from The Graduate. Voight plays a wide eyed hustler that makes his way from Texas to the big city in order to swindle wealthy women. This story took some dark and dramatic turns we didn't expect going in and certainly left a lasting effect once the credits rolled. If you've seen this film what did you think of it?
