This sure is an iconic moment for me to be in conversation with Ustad Fazal Qureshi, who I have always admired, and idolized.

Ustad Fazal Qureshi, carrying forward the legacy of his father Ustad Alla Rakha, has always inspired many of us.

I had the privilege of speaking my mind and to have an intimate conversation with the maestro, and it's all about Fusion Music.

 This is a very special episode which speaks about the national instrument of India, viz; The Veena. With special guest and Veena player Saipriya Viswanathan sharing some very informative facts and knowledge about the instrument.

This particular episode also has emotions attached with the journey of Late Miss Padma Iyer who was proficient in the field of Carnatic Music as a Veena and Violin player, and is the maternal aunt to the host Ravi Iyer.

Miss Padma Iyer by profession was an English and Maths Teacher at Bombay Scottish School located at Mahim (Mumbai, India), and this episode features a tribute to all her students, her colleagues and the school management.

The highlight of this episode also features one of Miss Padma Iyer’s Veena performance which was recorded somewhere around 1968 on a spool tape recorder which has been exclusively brought to you by her nephew (your host)  Ravi Iyer.

The in-valuable information and knowledge shared by the guest Saipriya  would definitely be intriguing  to many of you who would like to  know more about this beautiful and a spiritual instrument viz; Veena.

In this episode I chat about many different circumstances that we face while coexisting with our pet dogs and the society we live in. Definitely a historical moment for me to share,  this true story originally written by my late grandfather V.S. Arunachallam. He  beautifully describes his visit and the day spent with Sri Ramana Maharshi (30 December 1879 – 14 April 1950) himself, while the Rishi used to stay at the Virupaksha cave situated at the foot of the Arunachala Hill in South Of India.

This is the period between 1900-1919, Considering an age-old real life story that gave me peace and tranquility while reading, I am happy to share his experience by way of my narration. My late grandfather was based out of a village called Arani in the district of Tiruvannamalai, south of India and he used to frequently visit Sri Ramana Maharshi Ashram during his pupalage. 

This story is sure to transport you back in time.

'Akranto' is Ravi Iyer's latest music single release in collaboration with Manisangsu Bhowmik who wrote the lyrics in Bengali language and rendered his vocals, joined by Arvind Iyer on Bass. This episode features some very insightful and informative thoughts behind the lyrical meaning and content of this composition. Since the lyrical content is in Bengali language and also contains excerpts from one of the greatest poets Jibanananda Das (17 February 1899 – 22 October 1954), this composition by Ravi Iyer throws light on the poet's writing style and his thoughts during that point of time.
