Three Commands and Blessings

The Gospel is Matthew 17:1-9

What was the experience of the disciples during Jesus’ transfiguration on the mountaintop? Did they see with “Kingdom of Heaven eyes?”

The eyes of their hearts became enlightened about Jesus, and about themselves. This would have been a confusing, heady, exciting and uncertain time for them.

How do we interpret Jesus’ transfiguration? The three commands given to the disciples are key to this. These commands, these blessings, were:

-Listen to Him

-Get up (be raised up, be transfigured, be resurrected)

-Do not be afraid.

Claim the power you embody, the light, the life and the power of Jesus. Don’t hang onto it: let it flow, let it go. The world is dying to know the power of God’s love.
