Three Free Movies

Alien: Romulus is currently doing great on ratings, (much better than many of its predecessors), and it's certainly charting on this podcast. Featuring Nick's NPR voice tell-all on just how scary this movie was, how amazing Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, and David Jonsson's acting was, and how many times Lila can search Alien on AO3 before it's not a joke anymore. The jury's still out on that one. (FYI, there are, in fact, BTS x Alien fics out there)

Deadpool & Wolverine got a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.1/10 on IMDB so of course we had to ask the hard questions. Questions like: where should you go to see Deadpool put out, what sort of movie might move Lila to bring nuclear Armageddon down on this apartment, and whether or not Nick is allowed to lie. Join us on our never-ending quest to stop mentioning Legion and maybe talk about Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman while we're at it.

This week with Three Free Movies Lila was fooled into seeing a horror movie! Featuring The Devil. From the bible. We saw Longlegs with Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe and talked about how many hours of scary media are too many, how we could have made this movie perfect, and is the devil behind Nick Right. Now.

Featuring Amy Poehler, Maya Hawke, and Kensington Tallman (and of course beloved Ayo Edebiri), Inside Out 2 certainly provoked some feelings. If you liked Inside Out, we recommend listening to this podcast instead of seeing Inside Out 2; together we can look forward to the wax wings melting off of Inside Out 3 when Riley figures out she's gay.

Yorgos Lanthimos' Kinds of Kindness raises big questions for the Three Free Movies crew. The new movie starring Jesse Plemons, Emma Stone, Margaret Qualley, and Willem Dafoe leaves us asking, "What does Nick need to like a horror movie?", "Have we found Lila's new favorite director?", and "Could Yorgos Lanthimos be Wes Anderson's evil twin brother?"

We're not mad, just disappointed. Actually, no, we're both. Fly Me To The Moon starring the iconic (apparently nameless) black cat! Also, Scarlet Johansson, Channing Tatum, Woody Harrelson, and Anna Garcia. We cover the pros and cons, what we think about movies about white people in the '60s, and what this movie could have been.

I Saw the TV Glow starring Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine lead us to consider adding curling up "dead spider style" to our movie rating metrics. We invite you to consider what A24 is willing to put us through, the ins and outs of closets, and what really goes on inside a butterfly's chrysalis.

This week on Three Free Movies we are discussing the new American Godzilla movie: Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, where Donkus Kong, Cunty Godzilla, Freezy Godzilla, and some girl who's calling herself Mothra go head to head. We get to talk about some of our favorite things! CGI animals, Jail Hell, and the gender and sexuality of badly written fantasy creatures. Let us know what you think of this most recent Godzilla movie featuring Kaylee Hottle, Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, and Brian Tyree Henry.
