Let’s review some of the themes that we find in the Mass readings for the 21st Sunday of the Year.
1st Reading – Isaiah 66:18-21
God will gather nations from every language to come and see the glory of the Lord. They will gather in Jerusalem, the holy mountain, and bring an offering to God.“Go out to all the world and tell the Good News.”All people will praise the Lord who is steadfast in his kindness and fidelity.2nd Reading – Hebrews 12:5-7,11-13
We endure our trials as discipline that comes from the Lord. While discipline often includes pain, it strengthens and trains us to carry on.When asked if only a few people will be saved, Jesus urges his disciples to strive to enter through the narrow gate. The Lord says that people will come from the four corners of the earth and recline at table in the kingdom of God.Mass Readings – 21st Sunday of the Year (#123)
