Is Scott like a non-Newtonian fluid or not? Google it and you be the judge! Then get on with this episode. For the guys have more serious matters to get to as they stroll down the Hall of Faithlessness wing in the museum of Biblical characters.
You will know that you can go to Hebrews 11’s Hall of Faith and learn from saints of old about what it means to walk with God. But what about the villains of Scripture? What do we learn from people like Cain, Lamech, Korah & company, King Saul, Ananias & Sapphira, Judas, and others? If Jesus told us to “Remember Lot’s wife”, what are we to remember about her and others as we seek to avoid their corruption and ultimate destiny?
To answer that question, hit play, hit pause to look up non-Newtonian, then hit play again to join the discussion on this episode of Three Guys Theologizing!

As usual, the pastor and parishioner go at it to build some dramatic tension for the podcast. When things settle down a bit, they discuss the issue of people wandering from the church and how to shepherd them back home. The guys center their discussion on the spirit of the verses, “I myself will be the shepherd of my sheep, and I myself will make them lie down, declares the Lord GOD. I will seek the lost, and I will bring back the strayed…” (Ezekiel 34:15-16).
The gents talk about the heart pain that comes when people leave the church. They speak of the need to discern the reasons why someone might leave. Different efforts at reclaiming wandering sheep are given. The care needed in being patient, loving, and understanding is emphasized. The voluntary nature of the church is discussed. The hope that Jesus Christ gives in shepherding work is highlighted.
So whether you are a shepherd needing some encouragement, a church member concerned over a straying friend, or a wandering sheep yourself, you just might want to tune in to this episode of 3GT!
Want an episode that talks about wine (or at least alcohol), women (well, old ladies), and song (opera) that actually has nothing to do with any of those things? Then this episode is for you!
For the guys tackle the subject known as the adiaphora, or the “things indifferent.” This term refers to those grey areas of life where Christians have different convictions of conscience and practice which are not necessarily right or wrong, yet can often cause great conflict in the church. So the 3GTers explain how things indifferent do not matter in one way but do in others. For we are to give others freedom to practice liberties God has given, but not use our liberties to cause others to stumble. They tackle key passages on this subject, such as 1 Corinthians 8 and Romans 14. The work of J.G. Vos known as The Separated Life is referenced.

Not only adults need theologizing. So do children. Among God’s sheep, how do you explain theological concepts to the lambs?
The 3GTers interact on what they would do when asked the following questions. How would you explain the idea of theology or the Trinity to a three year old? The gospel and saving faith to an eight year old? What’s the difference between Protestants and Roman Catholics to a junior high student? As these and other questions are raised, the guys speak of the need to use analogies, the children’s catechism, simple teaching…and the liberal use of the endearing term “Sweetie”!
Here’s an episode that will hopefully be helpful to parents, Sunday School teachers, and even pastors in addressing the little ones whom Jesus said are to come to Him. Tune in and join the conversation!

The boys begin with playful banter about Scott’s wearing of cardigans, Kyle’s obsession with Mr. Rogers, and Barry’s quiet provocations before the parishioner gets the train back on track. For this episode’s featured topic is Redemptive-Historical preaching.
The 3GTers start off by defining what this type of preaching is and how it is done. They then describe how this method of preaching arose in the last century as a reaction against exemplaristic preaching and liberal theology. They highlight some of its favorable proponents and attributes, especially the desire to make Christ known from the Scripture à la Luke 24:44-45. They then point out some of the downfalls of this methodology if it is held onto in too severe a manner. They point out the ways the Scripture itself holds up models of faith to us, the human element that needs to be developed when preaching narratives especially, the way this can actually drive people to Christ, and how much God’s people need moral guidance from Biblical characters who walked by faith.
When it comes to episodes on preaching, the parishioner-in-the-host-seat often ends up becoming the parishioner-in-the-pew. This episode is no exception! Tune into another robust conversation of Three Guys Theologizing!

The guys always enjoy visitors who make the podcast 3GT+1, especially when the guest raises their collective IQ significantly! Such is the case on this episode, as Dr. William VanDoodewaard, Professor of Church History at Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary, joins them to discuss the person of Adam.
As author of the book The Quest for the Historical Adam: Genesis, Hermeneutics, and Human Origins, Bill explores with the 3GTers the true historicity of Adam. He describes the influence of evolutionary teaching on the church that led him to do his research. The good doctor then traces the church’s teaching on Adam, showing the consistent commitment to Adam as the father of the whole human race in historic, confessional Christianity. Yet Bill also explains deviations that arose as outside influences challenged a Biblical commitment to Adam as the progenitor. The episode then concludes with application, as the gents interact further with Dr. V. about the implications on Biblical interpretation, covenant theology, Christology, etc., if Adam is not who the first chapters of Genesis so clearly state that he is.
So tune in to this episode of 3GT! But hear this bit of a warning. You may want to have the pause button handy so you can chew on what you just heard!

A listener thinks our pastor and parishioner sound so much alike you cannot tell them apart. So the 3GTers do a public service by identifying Kyle and Scott (almost) every time they speak. Then they get down to the brass tacks of the episode!
For on this edition of 3GT, they address the Reformed online world. What FB groups, forums, blog comment sections, etc. do the guys frequent? Do they engage in theological debates online? Why or why not? What are the benefits and drawbacks of virtual engagement? Are all mediums equal, or are some mediums more equal than others? Is social media affecting its users more than they it? Are there Biblical principles to be followed as you interact online and, if so, what are they? What exactly can three cantankerous old guys offer the coming generation?
If you are a social media Reformer, then you may want to tune into this episode of Three Guys (trying their best at) Theologizing!

Every now and then, the guys like to let their hair down (well, at least two of them do) and have a more light-hearted episode. Such is the case with Episode 215, which actually is the case known as “The City of Winchester v. Kyle Borg”, more popularly known as “Who let the dog out? Kyle? Kyle!”
If you have followed this story in previous episodes, you know that Kyle was cited for allowing his dog, Huckleberry, to roam the fair streets of Winchester. He finally appeared before the judge (Kyle, not Huckleberry). Finally, he tells the story of what transpired.
Was Kyle found guilty? Did Scott practice law illegally in the state of Kansas? Did Barry violate copyright laws in this very episode? If the suspense is killing you, then hit the play button and enjoy the shenanigans. And though there are attempts at theologizing along the way, if you really want that you should probably just wait for the next episode!

In the old mansion that houses RPTS, there is a hidden vault, secret passageways, and undiscovered treasures. Recently such a treasure was found, tucked away in a corner of old artifacts in the archives room. What was it? The original copy of the Covenant of 1871 was unearthed!
This discovery led the boys of 3GT to talk about covenanting. What is it? Where is this practice found in the Bible? What are examples of covenanting in nations, the church, or personally? Where do we see it practiced today? What was the Covenant of 1871 seeking to accomplish? What lessons can be applied today?
