Three Men and Milan

Good grief all that excitement for the return of league football to be greeted by that performance is criminal. Milan limped to a point against Sampdoria this weekend after an insipid display saw them drop more points at home in the race for the Champions League. Poor performances on and off the pitch get the full treatment this week before looking at how Serie A is shaking out, a certain contract extension saga and looking ahead to relegation threaten Parma this coming week. Heartbreak listeners as Milan are ousted from the Europa League after a very tightly fought contest against Manchester United. However, the lads ponder whether it could be a blessing in disguise as the Rossoneri can put their full focus on the league campaign and finally give players a rest midweek for the first time this season. Based on the showing at Fiorentina this could well be paying dividends already as a very helpful 3 points was collected in their pursuit of a Top 4 finish, just before the International Break as well. We also look forward to next season and have a chat about who should stay and who should go! Forza Milan! Another week another set of topsy turvy results, Milan got the away goal they desired at Old Trafford after one of the best performances of the season against Man United, only to be very lacklustre at home to Napoli and give up 3 points on home soil. As we’ve said many times listeners, no time to dwell on that defeat as more important fixtures are always on the horizon this season, with the return leg of the Man Utd tie being the latest must-see fixture. Andy and Jack caught up with TC from the 100% United podcast to discuss the first leg and preview the huge midweek clash. The preview of the Fiorentina game in Serie A and all of the usual stuff are in this week’s episode as well. Forza Milan! As promised in the podcast all of the information you need to go and listen to TC and the boys on the 100% United podcast is below: Website: https://www.united100podcast.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/United100Pod Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/united100podcast/ You can follow the podcast on social media: Twitter - https://twitter.com/3MenAndMilanPod Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/threemenandmilanpod/ Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/threemenandmilanpod Website - https://anchor.fm/threemenandmilanpod

Up and down this week for Milan as a very poor performance midweek against Udinese saw them snatch a point with a 97th minute penalty however a much-depleted side due to a host of injuries pulled off a great performance against Verona to take all 3 points. Another huge week is on the horizon with the first leg of the massive clash against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the return of the Europa League. This is followed by the test of a Gennaro Gattuso Napoli side visiting the San Siro looking to improve their own top 4 chances. All of the reviews, previews and more on this week’s podcast. Milan picked a victory in the league for the first time in forever this past matchday, dispatching Roma away from home, providing a well needed tonic considering the results over the past month. Milan also scrapped through in the Europa League on away goals and have been rewarded with the money tie of the next round as they face English giants Manchester United! Before that huge European clash there’s a double game week in Serie A to contend with as Milan will be looking for more points when they host Udinese and travel to Verona. Ughhh that was not great to say the very least, hammered at home by Inter who now look set to win their first Scudetto in a decade. This followed a disappointing performance in Belgrade from Milan who succumbed to a last-minute equaliser to make the second leg a much more tricky proposition. The lads get into it this week posing wether players should be dropped, formation and tactics changed and if Pioli will continue on if this slide becomes a full blown slump. This week sees an opportunity for redemption ahead for Milan as they can qualify for the last 16 of the Europa League and improve their Champions League chances when they travel to Roma in the money fixture of Serie A this weekend. That didn’t quite go to plan did it folks, Milan were humbled by Spezia this past week in the worst performance of the season causing the boys to address Milan’s major blip in form at the beginning of 21 in a run down of the major talking points on and off the pitch. There is absolutely no time to dwell on this loss though as the Europa League kicks off again this week and Milan travel to Serbia to take on the unbeaten Red Star Belgrade followed by the final Derby of this season in the home fixture against Inter, a win will see Milan top the table once more. All this and the usual Serie A review on this weeks podcast. Forza Milan! Milan slotted 4 past Crotone this weekend with braces from both Ante Rebic and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, those being goals number 500 and 501 of Zlatan's club career with no stopping in sight, fingers crossed. That victory kept Milan top of the Serie A table for another week and the Rossoneri will be looking to extend that lead at the top when the travel to Spezia this upcoming match day. Forza Milan!

An incident filled Milan derby saw the Rossoneri eliminated from the Coppa Italia following a sucker punch from Christian Eriksen in nearly the 100th minute, after playing pretty much the entire 2nd half with 10 men. This defeat didn't impact Milan too much though as they were back to winning ways in the league away at Bologna on Saturday. Now with only 1 game in 13 days elimination from the cup could prove to be a blessing in disguise as Milan welcome bottom of the table Crotone to the San Siro this coming week. Serie A, round up, Rino and more on this weeks pod. Forza Milan!
