  • Quack Addiction

Duck hunting: the cost is shameful, but the memories are priceless. Sam and Cody talk about their recent duck hunting excursions. Hot tips on new decoy strategies and a story about a guy who decided to wade the icy water without waders. A story of a good dog and a great retrieve. Waterfowl morphology, Carolina Bays, wind blown salt water, and baby Shovelers. Ditch running, first time duck hunters, and people we only talk to once a year. Bringing the story full circle to talk about the importance of protecting waterfowl habitat here in the piedmont.

  • "Possibly, the best deer hunt I ever had."

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers (BHA) CEO Land Tawney joined us last week for a tour of public land projects in our region. He tells of a hard earned public land buck. Cody talks about his recent experience with the Three Rivers Sportsman Access Program and the success had. A Monday muzzleloader double. Cody gives out spots. That's correct, locations are given up.

  • Cleanliness is akin to godliness

The title phrase was first recorded in a sermon in the 1700's but is an ancient thought dating back to early Hebrew. In short, folks realized that being clean was directly related to health. In this episode we talk about Sam's weekend on the paddle trip. Being a sweeper, or in cowboy terms "riding drag". We give a brief overview/recap from a previous episode on CWD (chronic wasting disease) and talk about sampling methods. This conversation lead us into meat and food care. More importantly, emphasis on how to keep a sanitary environment while processing your own food. For those interested in farm or field to table, this is an often overlooked topic in the guides to harvesting and processing your own foods.
