I am honored to welcome my guest, Brian Burke, to the podcast today! Brian is President/CEO of Praxis Capital Inc, a vertically integrated real estate private equity investment firm. Brian and his team have acquired over 800 million dollars worth of real estate over a 30-year career including over 4,000 multifamily units and more than 700 single-family homes. He has subdivided land, built homes, and constructed self-storage, but really prefers to reposition existing multifamily properties. Brian is the author of The Hands-Off Investor: An Insider’s Guide to Investing in Passive Real Estate Syndications, and is a frequent public speaker at real estate conferences and events nationwide. Today, Brian digs into how to be a successful passive investor, including how to vet and what things to look for in a potential sponsor. Brian discusses why he is cautious in today's real estate market, with much higher interest rates and the potential for stalling rent growth. He is actually currently more bullish on the Midwest markets than he is the south and southeast markets! I agree!! It is such an honor to welcome my guest, Andrew Cushman, to the podcast! For over a decade, Andrew has been growing real estate investment businesses full-time. Starting off with single-family properties in 2007, Andrew completed 27 single-family flips. In 2011, he transitioned to the acquisition and repositioning of multifamily properties and now acquires B-class, value-add properties throughout Texas and the Southeast United States. In total, Andrew and his team have acquired and repositioned over 2,000 multifamily units to date and, of course, each one of those units requires property management. My guest today, Dave Dubeau, is an investor with years of experience in the real estate investing industry. Dave is the creator of the Money Partner Formula, and he works with newer real estate investors, helping them to get started with raising capital.  He’s a best-selling author and speaker based in British Columbia, Canada.  He began his real estate investing career in 2003 doing 18 deals in 18 months, and nowadays he invests passively in multi-family properties. Today, Dave and I discuss the basics of raising capital and the biggest mistakes he has found people make in raising the necessary funds. My favorite part--Dave walks me through his simple equation that reveals how much a single investor is worth over the lifetime of your company.
