- Being Authentic is key for our wellbeing and for us to feel relaxed, free, positive and energetically alive
- Our education system does not cover practical aspects of life especially the skills of being authentic and on day to day basis we learn to deal with technical aspects of work
- Being authentic and being alined to self along with alignment with peers, subordinates, managers and others is crucial
- When we are authentic, we are feeling a sense of self worth and self respect and we share our opinions and feelings without fear of rejection or judgement
- This boost our confidence , we can just show up as our true selves
- Not showing up to true self takes a lot of mind power , and instead of being focussed on what needs to be get done, we are consumed on editing ourselves and thats nor being effective
- When one is not authentic at work or in life, it adds to stress and anxiety, if there is no congruity between who we are, what we believe in and what we actually project then that creates a dissonance inside you and adds to stress
- Fear of judgement operates in the back of the mind and that makes people not to be courageous to be authentic, and this is rooted in personal insecurities and they are not grounded in who they are !
- Another reason could be organizational culture, hierarchy, my way or highway kind of culture, where power dynamics do not allow people to express their opinion
- Lack of trust amongst colleagues could also force people to be not authentic at work, as they may be ignored when they add value
- The key to be authentic is to be self aware. So rather than responding to the outside world, we need to live from the inside out, understand our values, what makes us unique, so we dare to be confident
- Another thing is self acceptance. By accepting who we are. The expectation of being great at everything build insecurities, comparisons, which is not being authentic
- Your feelings and emotions are telling you something about you, not about the world around you. The more you understand them the better you can regulate them. More grounded and less blame, less complain, being responsible for you all this will give more clarity for you to ask what you need to stay in your power
- Practice of being honest and transparent, first to yourself then to others
- Another important aspect is the environment we spend our time in. Our environment really determines to an extent how free and authentic we are, if we are in an environment where people are very judgmental, critical, do n't accept us who we are, it will be hard to be authenticAnine's website https://anineekelund.coach/ can tell you more about her work, connect with her at [email protected] to create an authentic version of yourself resonating with your true values.
