Welcome to the Story Mill podcast series – Thriving Beyond Stress & Burnout. In this episode, Claire Taylor talks with Peter Wilson – Transformative Executive Coach.
Peter had a high-powered career working for the United Nations which meant he always had a packed suitcase, a plane ticket and his passport at the ready. Over time his crazy schedule took its toll on Peter’s health and quality of life.
However, rather than fix his career Peter decided to fix himself. His mission was then to create an ‘even better’ version of himself as he continued with the overwhelming pace at work.
Life didn’t get much better. In time, Peter had a realisation about his striving that changed everything for him and his family.
To hear Peter’s story and what he saw that became the catalyst for change, listen to our conversation below.
Now, Peter works as a Transformative Executive Coach helping people to recognise that their wellness comes from within. He also writes wonderful poetry. As a special treat, Peter recites one of his thought-provoking poems towards the end of our podcast conversation.

Welcome to the Story Mill podcast series – Thriving Beyond Stress & Burnout. In this episode, Claire Taylor talks with International Coach, Speaker and Writer – Michele Attias.
Michele worked as a psychotherapist until she eventually found that delving into the stories of others had her taking on an emotional burden she found exhausting. She was also working as a supervisor to other psychotherapists helping them to deal with their own emotional business too.
On top of her work Michele had her own personal challenges. The combined weight of these burdens led to exhaustion for Michele.
Then, she discovered a simple understanding about the way life works called The Three Principles. This understanding changed everything. It led Michele to change her practice and approach to helping others and to her leading a much more joyful life for herself.

Welcome to the Story Mill podcast series – Thriving Beyond Stress & Burnout. In this episode, Claire Taylor talks with Travel Book Writer – Pete Martin
Peter was a Senior Partner – Commercial Director & Negotiator in an IT firm. He had spent the last five years of his career going from one intensive programme to the next. At the same time he had undergone five knee surgeries and his marriage collapsed. Pete succumbed to the impact of stress and burnout and ended up having treatment at The Priory.
After the dark days of his divorce, poor health and then quitting his job, despite moving to another country and finding his soul mate, something was still missing.
Exhausted from life and work, Pete embarks on a soul searching journey to rekindle his health and his love for life. He endures physical adventures which mirror the struggles he faces on the inside in coming to terms with his new life. Initially the revolutions of the bicycle wheels are the backdrop to the beginnings of a revolution within him. Then he journeys around the world by train and ship. Pete’s transformational journey will remind you to never give up on your dreams, no matter what stage in life you are.

Welcome to the Story Mill podcast series – Thriving Beyond Stress & Burnout. In this episode, Claire Taylor talks with Entrepreneur and Motivational Business Speaker – Brad Burton.
Brad was born in Salford, Manchester and was brought up by his mum Brenda after his father left the family home when he was very young.
During his school life Brad was the class clown and, in his own words, achieved nothing, getting Es, Fs and Us in his GCSEs. Brad had one main interest at this time – computer games.
After school Brad joined a YTS (Youth Training Scheme) working on a computer support desk for a company in Salford and then he secured what was, at that time, his dream job working in a computer games shop in The Arndale Centre in Manchester.
Later he was offered an opportunity to work with Jason Dutton, then editor of Computing Magazine in Macclesfield. In spite of the fact that Brad wasn’t a good writer he got the job and built his reputation as a games writer and reviewer and even took part in a television series.
Brad mixed with the wrong crowd, upset some unsavoury people and this culminated in someone attempting to shoot him in 1995. Terrified, Brad fled to Somerset where he got a job and went on to meet a local girl whom he later married.
In our conversation, Brad shares how he walked away from his job, to set up his own business, despite having a baby on the way. In building his business Brad went down the business networking route. To his horror he found himself being ejected from the very first networking event he attended.
Why? Because he offered similar services to another networker.
That day changed everything for Brad. He had been running for 11 years and decided that he’d had enough and was going to plant his feet.
The action he took changed Brad’s life and that of many other small business owners too. Brad created 4Networking – a huge UK wide networking group disrupting the model that existed at the time. Aimed at small business owners. Brad describes it as the New Labour of networking. Since it’s inception just over ten years ago 4Networking has transformed business networking in the UK.
Building a massive business network eventually took a toll on Brad’s health and his personal life and let to burnout.
The photo on the left of Brad with his friend and colleague Terry captures a pivotal conversation that inspired Brad to hang in there despite the immense pressure he was under.
After plenty of soul searching Brad began to re-evaluate what was most important to him and re-prioritise things in his life.
Brad has since written four books – available on Amazon, the lastest is called Now What.
Brad’s current mission is disrupting the world of personal development and being the UK’s No1 Motivational Business speaker. You can find out more about Brad’s mission and story in our podcast conversation below!

Welcome to the Story Mill podcast series – Thriving Beyond Stress & Burnout. In this episode, Claire Taylor talks with Mind Coach and Medical Dr – Stephen Simpson.
Stephen worked for several years as a Medical Dr in war torn Angola and although there were tough days, he awoke every morning looking forward to his work. His capacity to deal with challenging situations was incredible.
Then, Stephen sustained a shoulder injury that initially seemed superficial. However, in time it became clear that the pain and inflammation weren’t going away and were impacting severely on Stephen’s ability to carry out his work.
A scan in the UK revealed extensive damage to his neck vertebrae and it became clear that Stephen wouldn’t be able to continue working as he had previously.
Constant pain, having to leave a job he loved, combined with a cluster of other personal issues began to take their toll on Stephen. The impact of horrific scenes he’d witnessed working on Angola loomed just beneath the surface of his awareness. This was a low point in his life and he felt stressed, burnt out and exhausted.
Stephen had reached a low point in his life and felt stressed, burnt out and exhausted.
Travelling to Brazil on holiday Stephen came across a book by sheer chance. Inspired by what he read, he took action upon his return to the UK and signed up for training in NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) with Paul McKenna. That small step ignited a spark in Stephen that led to him changing direction in his career and his life.
Since then, Stephen has become a Mind Coach and trained in a variety of psychological modalities. He helps people to reignite their confidence and improve their health, wealth and happiness. He also achieves amazing results helping people overcome PTSD using a technique called Havening.
