2 Corinthians 3:17-18 (ESV) - "Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit."
Notable Quotable
"It would just kill me if someone said he is a great preacher, but a lousy pastor. I would much rather be known as a good pastor and a lousy preacher." - Mike Fritscher

On this episode of the Thriving in Ministry podcast, we interview Pastor John Wilke on how to create margin, avoid burnout, and lead effectively.
Pastor Bio
John Wilke is the Senior Pastor of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He has served at Immanuel for almost 20 years. Rev Wilke completed his undergraduate and seminary training at Concordia University and is currently completing Doctor of Ministry from Institute of Lutheran Theology. John and his wife, Bianca, have 6 boys. Also, John Wilke hosts the Dummies on Theology podcast.
Verse of the Day
Titus 2:1 (NRSV) - "But as for you, teach what is consistent with sound doctrine."
Notable Quotable
"To endure the cross is not a tragedy; it is the suffering which is the fruit of an exclusive allegiance to Jesus Christ. When it comes, it is not an accident, but a necessity. It it not the sort of suffering which is inseparable from this mortal life, but the suffering which is an essential part of the specifically Christian life. It is not suffering per se but suffering and rejection, and not rejection for any cause or conviction of our own, but rejection for the sake of Christ." - Dietrich Bonhoeffer, The Cost of Discipleship
"There is no disconnecting anymore; people can always get to you. There is this urge to feel needed and important and that is all it is. I want to be important because nowhere else am I important but here. Someone needs pastor's advice, they need me to do something. So I immediately want to go there (my phone)." - Pastor John Wilke
"When we get into the business end of things (of the church) and we become Pastor as CEO, I would argue that is when we start to lose our effectiveness in ministry." - Pastor John Wilke
