We have reached a point in Peter's letter where suffering for the faith is the main idea. Of course, the Christians to whom Peter wrote didn't need to be convinced of the reality of this kind of suffering; they were living it in real time. What they did need was to be reminded of the hope that was theirs in Jesus Christ and to be encouraged to persevere in faith and obedience despite suffering for it. That's the aim of this text. It shows us how to thrive in times of suffering for righteousness' sake. I want to present it to you as four requirements to suffer well for Jesus.
