Welcome to my new Thrower of the Week Podcast series!

The goal is to do a short 10-15 interview with someone who had a great performance recently to hear some insight into how it felt, what they thought about, and what they were listening to!

The first thrower is the current NCAA #1 Donavon Banks from McNeese State University

He threw a huge 75.05m throw at South Alabama to take first place and break the school record!

He is also a super fun guy to talk to so it made it even more enjoyable to hear about his competition

It has been nearly a month hiatus but I have FINALLY released another interview

This one was recorded in Austin, Texas as I was traveling to my first meet of the year but this guest did not disappoint

I sat down with Nick Howe who is a 2x NCAA Division II national champion and has a PB of 78.41m

Nick is one of the most passionate guests I have had, you can really tell how much he loves the sport

He has had an awesome career and told many stories of success that were both inspirational and hilarious

Nick is the man so I'm gonna have to have him on again soon!

For those who don't know, Michael was the #1 male thrower in the US in 2019 and qualified for the world championships in Doha

We talked about his off season preparation, his strengths/weaknesses, how he handles the progression of his season, and advice to those getting ready to compete in the next couple of months

We also talked about his other career as a ukulele playing skateboarder

Not only is Charlotte a great thrower, she is incredibly motivated in the other aspects of her life as well

She is driven towards her career and shared many ideas of how people can better themselves/improve their online presence

She was also a goldmine of information regarding her perspective on coming to the US to throw from an outside country and also how to handle a change in coaches

This week I had on Kylee Carter who was the runner up at the 2019 NCAA DI Outdoor Championships and 2019 SEC Champion

She also represented Team USA at the 2019 NACAC U23 Championships by winning gold

However, she was not always a top javelin thrower. She stumbled upon it in high school and ended up walking on at Auburn University

Once at Auburn, she began to specialize and her career took off from there

She is now in her sixth year at Auburn and is looking to make the most of her last NCAA season and hopefully qualify for the Tokyo Olympics

This week I had a fun interview with two U20 athletes from Denmark. Both named Sebastian!

They recently created a page called Javelin Society (@javelinsociety) on Instagram with the goal of creating training programs for athletes

Both have seen major improvements in the recent years and shared the details of their journey on the podcast. Sebastian Skovhauge has the Denmark U18 record and Sebastian Risgaard recently converted from being a decathlete to solely focus on the javelin

These guys know their stuff for being so young! It was really cool to hopefully help their growing business

This week I had on a former decathlete named Alex Folacci who was also passionate about the javelin but had his career end abruptly

Instead of sulking, he began his career as a personal trainer and in a short time has won back to back trainer of the year awards in New York City

He branched out to other lanes and has become a very successful entrepreneur

He offers some good (and some interesting haha) advice for all interested in life after track

I found this to be a cool interview because it was so different than the other ones I've done

Stephen and I had connected on Instagram on multiple occasions but never actually gotten to speak

He has an AMAZING story of being pushed away then brought back to the javelin multiple times and why he loves it so much

He was truly insightful into sharing his mindset as a coach and athlete. He has a PB of 75.89m so we are looking forward to see him breaking though the 80m mark soon enough!

Tom is someone I knew personally when he lived in Illinois before moving to Alabama 

He is the main coach for the USA Javelin Project which features so many elite American throwers
