Life can be like a raging river. When the water is shallow, we are in control. We can safely navigate all by ourselves, but as things begin to intensify, as the problems of life become greater, the water becomes deeper, we reach a place that life can be like a raging river. We reach a place where we must swim or drown. Do you feel like you are swimming or drowning? 

We need the awesome power of God to do what only He can do. We need the Word of God to give us true wisdom and understanding in life. We need the Holy Spirit to empower us. Without God, life is like a deep, raging river. Solomon had it all, but he just wound up bored and frustrated. So, he tried to find meaning and purpose for life through pleasure, physical relationships, wealth, fame, political systems, human wisdom, and philosophy, but Solomon came full circle back to God.
