The loops of the nephron between the proximal and distal convoluted tubules are often called “The Loops of Henle” after the discoverer of this important part of the kidney.

The relationship of the glomerulus (Malpighian Corpuscle) and the beginning of the proximal tubule was unknown until this investigator discovered what is now called “Bowman’s Capsule."

The first portion of the nephron has in the past been called “The Malpighian Corpuscle” after the individual that discovered it (now called the glomerulus).
