Throwdown Show

Two years ago, we made ourselves a new home here on The Koalition. Though we came here knowing most of the staff and even some of the fanbase, it was still unclear how Throwdown would do after being on STFUandPLAY for nearly as long. I'm happy to say that on our two year anniversary, the show has never been bigger or better. Throwdown has reached the milestone 100th episode because of the support of colleagues, fans, and of course, our determination to entertain the gaming world each and every week.

For this episode, we asked our good friends, Torrence Davis and Gerard Williams, to be on. Torrence was the man who originally gave us a home at STFUandPLAY, and without him, none of you would even know we exist. As for Gerard, otherwise known as HipHopGamer, he has always been a great supporter or ours and wanted to be on for this special episode. These two guys are some of the funniest and smartest dudes in the industry and having them on this episode is a true honor. We also brought along our friend Reggie Butler, who is another long-time supporter of Throwdown who is on to make this show even more fun.

We threw tossed away the normal format to focus on two things. First, we give our impressions of the PlayStation Meeting. Sony officially unveiled the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim and announced release dates and prices. However, was the show lackluster? Is the PS4 Pro a necessary upgrade? Also, we talk to HipHopGamer about his conversion to PC gaming and ask him about some of his recent controversial statements regarding how gaming on PC isn't free.

We dedicate this episode to our beautiful friend, Rachael Murdock, who lost her fight with cancer a few weeks ago. Without her, this podcast wouldn't have the same sort of production values that you have all come to expect. Rachael is gone physically, but she will always be with us in spirit.

This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez, Chris Sealy, Carlos Romero, Brett Murdock, and special guests: Torrence Davis, Gerard Williams, and Reggie Butler.

Images and videos of the PlayStation 4 Slim were leaked online earlier this week and Sony was quick to take any related videos down... including videos of regular fans giving their impressions of the PS4 Slim. To some, it seemed like a heavy-handed way of handling the situation. Not one day passes when Sony announces that it is raising the price of PlayStation Plus to $60 a year. With these two events, it appears as if Sony is being anti-consumer. Is this the case, or are people coming down too hard on the company? We discuss this as our main topic.

Other things we discuss on the show:

- Sony promotes game that rips off assets and artwork from another game

- The plummeting popularity of Pokemon Go and No Man's Sky

- The silence surrounding the release of the 500GB Xbox One S

- The Super Nintendo Turns 25 years old

This episode features: Tony Polanco (host), Emilio Lopez (co-host), Chris Sealy, Carlos Romero, and Adam Vale.
