“As he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray.” The reason His disciple wanted to know how to pray was because he saw Christ pray and he heard Him. You see, it was the custom of our Lord to retire alone to pray. That was a habit of His. And this disciple saw Him, evidently overheard Him, and a desire was born in his heart to pray like Christ prayed. And do you know, friends, that the Lord Jesus is right at this moment at God’s right hand, and He’s our Great Intercessor. I think that’s a very appropriate petition for many of us to make. Lord, teach us to pray.
